Default Would you open this box of TC or return it?

Ordered a sealed case of TC and 2 jumbos from D&A and it came in today. The sealed case had a dented corner on it and one box affected but not THAT bad. Besides, I wouldn't want to mess with any piece of a sealed case, as this is the very first case I've ever opened in my life (and might be the last lol... I'm far from a high roller), so I really want to keep it intact and open all 12 together (have to wait for wifey to get home... otherwise it would've been opened already!

But I looked at the jumbos, and one of them has a pretty nasty looking dent, at least in my opinion. I sent them an email and haven't heard back yet, but if they offer me to send it back, is it worth it?

A few things to consider... I'm up in Canada and had these on preorder and they FINALLY came in today. They shipped on Monday July 31, so it was just over 2 weeks to receive. If I send it back, I'm probably looking at 2 weeks for them to get it and another 2 for me to get it back.

Also, I got nailed for 80 bucks on customs charges.... it's possible I'd have to pay more customs on the replacement. Obviously not that much, but I think Customs has a minimum of like 10 bucks or something.

I never bust wax, so I'm not sure how damaged they would be inside. Do you guys think it's worth trying to return it, or should I just crack it instead of the hassle? Is it maybe just one pack dented inside?

Yeah that dented box probably has a monster in it. You'll send it back and someone will rip and you'll regret it for life. That's how these things usually work. Rip It!

Generally box damage doesn't effect the packs inside. Generally.

This looks like minor damage too. At worst the top pack would be effected. I say rip.

I wouldn't worry about it, just break it. Good luck though.

There was an archives blaster I saw at Walmart 3 different times. Didn't want to buy it with the damage, but decided I had to the 3rd time. Had a kershaw auto in it.

In conclusion, that box is guaranteed to have a big hit in it.

I actually had a similar thing happen to me from 2015 and I put up a post, as well. I had to rip it and the cards were fine. No monster in there, but the cards were not damaged.

The hobby case was even worse... most cases I've seen have at least one good auto, but this one had nothing. Base Arroyo auto was the only one I recognized! Other hits in that were Fulmer Purple auto, Alex Reyes Blue Wave auto, Joe Musgrove Orange auto, and a Jose Altuve Then & Now auto #/50. Oh and a Jesse Winker Blue auto. I'm not familiar with these names, but I don't think any of them are that good. Other than those guys it was all scrubbbbbs.

But at least the base & refractors were nice... Kyle Freeland orange rc refractor, Stanton & Machado gold refractors, Syndergaard 30th anniversary orange refractor... hit base rc refractors of all the big name rookies like Bellinger, Judge, Benny, Moncada, Bregman, Mancini, Arroyo. Also variation refractors of Benny and Harper.

My best two hits were these... not monsters at all, but they both look really cool! Would've been a good case I think if there was at least a decent auto in there!

So you are a baseball fan and opened a case of cards but don't know who Jose Altuve is? You also assume Altuve is not that good? What baseball do you watch? Just curious.

Jose Altuve - star 2B for Houston. Played in the AS game this year....and 2016.....and 2015....and 2014....and wait for it....2013.

This year's stats: 165 hits, 35 2B, 3 3B, 18 HR, 65 RBI, 26 SB, .363 BA, .423 OBP.

Was a 20/20 player last year. Should be again this year.

Leading the league in BA (next closest is 18 points behind him).

Eighth in the league in runs, fourth in OBP, eighth in OPS, and fifth in SB.
He's a pretty alright 2B as well.

I would say the guy is a little alright. An Auto /50 of him is a GOOD hit. Maybe it wasn't a Judge hit, but Altuve is a much better player than Judge is.

Lol...yeah I was debating about sending him a PM to take that scrub Auto off his hands. Then thought better if it. Some people just can't be happy unless they get the gotta have player in a product, even though he is not the best player in the set by a long shot.

I love what Judge did for the hobby this year....well kind of....but hate some of the new "collectors" that have come to baseball because of him that understand little or nothing about baseball.

Actually I came into baseball because I'd been collecting basketball for the last decade... Got sick of panini and just came to baseball because I miss Topps refractors. I don't even collect Judge and these are the first of his in my collection... I was really hoping for a Bellinger or Benny auto mainly.

I honestly only watch the Jays mainly because up in Canada that's the majority of coverage that we get. Also lots of Yankees and red sox. So I mainly know the Jays team and Benny and Judge lol. And a bit of Moncada and a few other rookies that I've read about here. But for vets I honestly don't know a lot!

Definitely new to the sport and still learning... I never realized how many players I haven't heard of until I opened this case lol. For vets I just know Trout, Harper, Sanchez and a few others. Still a long way to go for sure!

Wish there was more baseball products available up here... LCS sells out of them instantly so I'm left with the very few products that Walmart has... We don't even have Topps Chrome available at Walmart here yet because it's sooooo slow.

There's a couple to help you out on figuring out who the "good" players are. There's also about 1,000 more places to go, and listening to the announcers during the game will help as well...

The great thing is, you have a really nice auto in the case that you did not think was. Congrats on a nice break.

You know what... Since I came to baseball, I've mainly tried prospecting. So I've been on milb.com and baseball America like every day. So I know all the minor league guys but no one in the majors. Also I read jaypers posts everyday which are awesome.

I gave up on prospecting though, it was a short run lol. I spent a ton and it seems never ending... It's so volatile and feels a lot like gambling! Plus it's honestly not fun... So ya I'm going to stick more to the majors and pick up what I can as I go.

Fernando Tatis Jr was the last prospect I loaded up on so big hopes he's the next Cody Bellinger lol
