Cool Kobe find in an old binder….

Going through my old cards a few weeks ago, and almost didn’t even notice the serial # on the back because it was mixed in with a bunch of other non-numbered versions. Thought it was a pretty cool card, especially since it matches Kobe’s jersey on the front, so got it graded to possibly try to sell/trade it for other PC items. I’m having trouble finding any comps so was hoping someone with more expertise could help me come up with a cash or trade value for this guy. Thanks in advance!

Such a cool card. Looks like the most expensive Kobe from that set that has sold in the last 3 years on ebay was just under 1000. Even though this isn't exactly a Kobe card, I think the serial number helps it a lot. I would list high, not like those asinine priced ones currently up on ebay right now, but I think you would get more than the sold Kobe went for. Great Find!

That's a nice find for sure! Those /100 Choice parallels don't come up for sale often now a days. I think you gotta just post this one .99 and let the market decide on their own, at least 7 day auction to gain some exposure.

I appreciate the insight fellas, pretty crazy the value, that’s for sure. Will definitely take this advice into account. Probably start with the high BIN just to gauge interest. Not in a terrible rush here.

This card is just nuts. If I found it I'd never sell, simply because of the serial number. Someone should bite at $2500 I would think. Good luck!

This is sick. I have not seen Primes pop up on sale in ages.... or maybe ever. Even thou there are 3 different cards depicting Kobe on the front. I guess it eludes people like it eluded you. It was also a cheap product, so who knows how many kids found one just did not know. To see one that is actually the #8/100 is also epic.

This has come up before but the fact the regular Choice Reserves are so similar didn’t help matters either.

i'm the owner of one of the other PSA 8 copies - was always one of my favourite cards in my collection, stored it in my binder (without a sleeve, i was 9 yrs old back then ) for 25 yrs. and recently sent it in for grading.
there was no copy of it graded by PSA ever when i sent it in in nov'23!

a Goldin sale for 1200$ from aug'23
is all i could find on this card with the help of /r/basketballcards

anyways - yours is extra special with the 008/100 numbering!

Wow, this thread got some steam…didn’t even realize it. I’ll catch up more tonight, just noticed some new posts on my lunch break. Anywho, in a perfect world, I would have loved to keep this card locked in the PC. I was blown away when sorting through a few old binders, I somehow noticed that this one had some shiny foil on the front. I flipped it over and bingo! Mind was blown when it matched the #8 of Kobe. Unfortunately, with two kids under 4, and the way things are nowadays financially (Florida teachers FTW) , the money really was more important. Plus I can use some of it to grab a few Josh Allen cards hopefully on the cheap this offseason. Hopefully the new owner is a huge Kobe fan and he can appreciate it for how cool of a card it is!

i'll hit up some shows in germany this year and will bring this card with me to potentially sell - since i came back into the hobby last year sets like fleer ultra 97 & 98, ex2000, 2001, ex century and their parallels really grabbed my interest so i'm debating freeing up some cash to buy stuff i like even more


we'll see what happens, maybe some day ill get a '97 shammgod platinum medaillon or even a metal universe championship PMG
