Default Who do you like better Willie Mays or Hank Aaron?

I guess many could argue who was better but which one do you like better?
I personally like both players about the same and got to see them both play when I was a kid.

Willie could be kind of a jerk. Aaron is the salt of the Earth.

Hank Aaron's humility has always impressed me, great advocate for baseball.

I'm neutral since I'm not old enough to watch either play in person

Both great historic players. Tough choice, but based on who I think was more “like able” I would have to go with Aaron.

Mays. He's the best ever, in my mind.

I should add that this is one of those "no wrong answer" questions.

As a player,...it’s very close but I think Mays wins out.

As a human being, I’ve heard too many times that Mays is a huge jerk. Considering his Godson is Barry Bonds and Reggie Jackson is his cousin, as——-ism seems to run in the family. Those two are among the biggest jerks to ever live.

So as to who I like better as a person, it’s Hank Aaron. Dealing with the crap he had to while chasing the HR record just elevated him even more. I’ve heard he can also be cantankerous, but he gets a pass on mild disgruntlement.

I like them both. A good chunk of my PC is Willie Mays cards, so I'd obviously choose him. Having said that, Aaron always seems like the nicer guy. Can't go wrong picking either of them.

I think Mays was undisputably the better player, but Hank stands out both from a personality and durability perspective. I think Mays is underappreciated because he didn't have a great relationship with fans.

Yaz over Clemente? I always thought of Mays, Aaron, Koufax, Clemente as the big 4 post war non Mantle or Jackie RC’s.

Aaron seems like he’d be a better choice to sit down and enjoy a beer with.

I'd give the nod to Hank over Willie but both were great players.

This is very solid advice. I've got the Mays RC, but I still need the Aaron RC. I don't know how many times I've almost pulled the trigger on buying an Aaron, but I wish I did long ago. Someday.

Because those four guys are still with us.

once that is no longer the case, will cost more to add them to your collection

This would be like a Brady vs Manning. I literally don’t care about either of them except they sell.

But the PC probably factors in. Haha
