Default eBay Managed Payments

So I just learned eBay charged me 12.54% on a card I sold for $410!!! To top it off, they won't release the funds to my bank account until Monday.

I may be done selling on eBay...

You do not have PP fees anymore though, so it's basically a wash.

Also, there's a thread on this in the eBay section.

Was that on top of the 10% selling fee, or including?

I posted in other section also

You can get money transferred next day or once a week

I picked next day

4 buyers paid me 400 dollars on Wednesday night

No money yet ... so hopefully Monday

So get ready for 5 days to get paid. Who knows maybe a week

I realize it’s up to bank also .. but 100 percent of time when I transferred money from PayPal it was in my bank next day .. this has been 5 days

Buyers will have items before you get paid

I have been slowly leaving eBay over last year

This pushes me a little more out the door

I urge you to really read the thread in the eBay section as well - it's a pretty useful resource.

Many people have been on managed payments for many months. The fees are not increased. There are many other issues with it, but for now the fees are just slightly lower.

I'm being transitioned next week, and it's gonna be super annoying for me bc I refuse to open a separate bank account. The delay in payment is just gonna have to be what it is, but is unequivocally a negative. But, there are far worse things in selling.

I love it. Easier to keep track of everything from my end.

They took their ~10% now instead of the end of the month.
They took their fee of ~2.54% instead of Paypals 2.9%.

It’s the reason I sold my chronicles haul to my lcs instead of on eBay....and didn’t have to ship a bunch of packages and got paid instantly

But it’s better because your fees come out of your payout, so no big invoice later

I just started on Managed Payments. Don't love it, it makes my accounting spreadsheet slightly more complicated just because it's always been set up for PP received, ebay fees, etc. in different columns.

Also an extra click or two when printing labels.

Would prefer to keep using Paypal, but that's not exactly a choice, so I know I have to deal with it

What is the preoccupation with having access to your funds immediately?

Curious if any sellers on managed payments has done a return/refund on a paid item if eBay kept any part of their fees or did they return everything too with the refund to buyer. Paypal had started keeping their cut of the fees on refunds...if eBay does not, then that would be one positive to switching over to managed payments.

Sell everything on IG or through PC Sportscards. Problem solved.

Minus the global audience, of course.

It depends on how the buyer pays if they pay direct with a CC you do not get the fees back as Ebay does not get them back from the CC company. Its the same thing Wal-Mart and other companies endure with CC companies. If the fees are returned then the seller gets them back.

eBay does not keep the fees on refunds through MP.

That may be true - in the 2 or 3 refunds I've had to process since I was forced to make the switch, I did not have to eat the fees.

You never really had your funds available with Paypal either. Paypal actually spots the seller the money immediately. Its only a matter of time before Paypal adopts a system where you have to ship the item first for all sellers. Every major selling site like Amazon, Mercari, Etsy and so on have a hold system place. Any retailer that accepts cards through their business is on a hold similar to what Ebay is setting up. Its just the way it is.

Let me phrase my opinion in a different way.

Having money instantly is something we're all used to with PP. Not having money instantly is worse than that.

It'll take some adjustment to the new normal is all. It's not not good, not bad, just a slight negative, and different.

Not to mention, my boss doesn't hand me a wad of cash at the end of each day. I'm wondering why some people need their sports card money so quickly.

12.4 is still cheaper than Ebay and Paypal. They are combining the processing and FVF into one percentage. They started taking the fees off the top on August 12th which is what many sellers wanted with MP. YOu will no longer have a monthly bill except for your store fees and anything like refunds you did not have funds for or Fed ex shipping and things like that.

I'm just wondering what you did with it after each sale. Before managed payments, I looked at PP about once a week. It didn't occur to me to spend the money after every transaction.

It was never a smart idea to spend it all with Paypal. They can take it out at anytime and as I said they spotted you the money right away. I have had a few times over the years where Paypal said the money was mine then a few hours later said opps this payment could not be verified. If you have not shipped do not do so.

I counted it like the greedy little troll that I am of course, lol.

OK actual answer. I don't think it's a big deal for me personally, it'll just take adjustment. I'm going to do weekly (can't yet, until I'm officially active.) I only check my balance to see if I have enough to make my PP credit monthly payment.

From past threads, it appears many do not use credit cards. To each their own, but it baffles me.
