Default Last on-card Hank Aaron Autographed Cards

Hey all.

Recently purchased an on- card auto of Hank Aaron from Topps Chrome Black. It was in a one-touch with a Topps label, so I'm assuming it was a redemption.

I was looking to add a Hank auto to my collection, and this one struck me as one I'd love for my PC, as his signature was squiggly and showing of old age.

That brought me to another question. When you talk about one of the all time bests, would you prefer an auto from them in their prime, or one if their lasts, as we all know we can't live forever.

I debated this much internally, and in the end chose one of the last hard signed cards that was out there, as compared to other earlier authenticated autographs. To me, seeing that he, like all of us, was in a decline both physically and with regards to signing, made me covet this version.

That’s a nice card. I think it depends on the situation. With someone like Kobe or Clemente who’s lives were cut tragically short I can see the value in having “one of the last” autos. Me personally with hank as someone who lived a long life and his auto quality declined over time I’d probably prefer a earlier auto.

1. It’s not a redemption; all Topps Chrome Black autos are encased/sealed.

2. I like earlier autos; looking at something like this in my collection would just be downright sad:

Dupe post. Anyways I have zero hank Arron autos so I’d take any at this point.

Thanks for that info, I was unaware as to the reason for the sealed with a sticker one-touch.

I would want the earliest possible, the Upper Deck heroes or another 90s/early 00s card.

Earliest isn’t important to me. Either it should be from a set I collect or on a card I think looks great during his MLB-playing days.

I'm all about the design of the card as opposed to when it came out for something like this. I

Still have yet to get a Hank auto. But I do want to have one at some point. I'm hoping he has one in 2021 Heritage on the '72 design. I will definitely overpay for that.

It is for me because by mid 2000s his autos were looking shaky. I own two playing days cards that I got at shows. I used to own the UD Heroes card. There are a few other early autos that look nice too. However, I want a nice clean auto like he signed most of his life over a shaky one from the end of his life.

I personally don’t think it matters when his auto is done. He is one of the top 5 players of all time.

I bought into a $25 2019 Topps break and was lucky enough to have a /50 Aaron auto pulled for me. Easily my most prized card. It’s Hank freaking Aaron.

Yes, this definitely works.

My friend's dad showed me a Pete Rose auto he got as a kid at spring training.

Anyone can get a Rose auto at whatever casino he's currently signing autos at.

A 50 year old spring training auto is a completely different item.

Playing days autos are way different than autograph sessions to subsidize their pensions.

The Hammers signature got shaky the last 15 years or so. Late 90s/early 2000s autos are way to go if you can do it.
