Default Long journey from 1st prospect to flagship RC

Back in the early Spring of 2011, the owner of my LCS approached me with a deal on a case of 2010 that he couldn’t sell. I think I paid $400 for the case, and it netted me my first non-printing plate 1/1.

So I stashed the card and followed him passively through the years. Several trades, a visa hiccup (I believe), and 10 years later, lo and behold - he got his flagship RC in 2020.

Excluding the USA and AFLAC/Under Armor/Perfect Game insert subjects, can anyone else think of a player that had a 10+ year gap between his 1st Bowman and flagship RC?

Matt Bush = 2004 Bowman Draft -> 2016 Topps Update
Chaz Roe = 2005 Bowman Draft -> 2019 Topps

Both of these players were from before the RC rules changed, so their 2004 (Bush) and 2005 (Roe) cards are considered their RCs.

Nvm on Bush, he had a '04 Topps Traded RC. His '16 Topps Update is his 2nd flagship card.

Roe though only had an '05 Topps Chrome, so his first true flagship is 2019.

EDIT - Here's another - Travis Blackley = 2004 Bowman -> 2013 Topps Update

Their 2004 and 2005 issues are considered RCs only by people who bought into the “MiLB RC” nonsense.

Bubba Starling has to be pretty close to this.

And to think we thought the Strasburg mania back then was nuts. Now you can barely buy a single box of bowman for that much. Crazy how much things have changed in only 10 years

So what you mean is literally everyone but yourself? Congrats on being such a standout! *GOLD STAR*

Bubba Starling is 2010 Bowman (USA) or 2011 Bowman Draft -> 2020 Topps.

Go look at the checklist numbering and look at who's in sets then vs. how they are now. It's not nonsense, it's a definition of what is and what is not an RC.

Thanks! I knew he had to have quite a gap between them. I remember getting back in the hobby in 2014 and people talking about how much of a disappointment he was. I was actually surprised to see him get called up to be honest.
