Default Select vs Optic - does select ever overtake it?

Posted this in football section also but curious people's thoughts in hoops.

Curious people's thoughts on whether Panini Select ever overtakes Optic as the number two product behind prizm - I think the Select cards look great but just seems they get much less respect....

thanks for all feedback!

No. Maybe it comes close if they ever release a retail version.

I don't see it, but the courtsides are some of the sickest cards in hand imo

Select hasn't even overtaken Mosaic IMO.

Select cards are beautiful but lack of retail exposure and 3-tiered system (concourse, courtside and premier level) hurts it.

If a retail version ever gets released, the argument will be a lot stronger.

I’ve always valued Select above the rest. Being hobby-only does put it in a slightly different class, though.

Nah. Select is really nice, don't get me wrong. But it's been around for years, even pre-Panini. And it's always just kinda been there. I don't see it going away, but I don't see it becoming any more popular.

Crazy thing is when I first got back in to collecting NBA cards I assumed Select would be the popular set to chase. It's just not for whatever reason.

I like Select better as well the courtsides and tie-dyes are amazing. Not the die cuts though.

Myself I much rather Select over Optic, mainly because of the courtsides with the in game photos, some great looking cards. Optic is nice but some of the staged poses on the cards are kind of goofy.

I enjoy ripping Select over Optic Hobby.

Just more exciting

RC Patch Autos, Memorabilia, In flight On Card Autos, Colored Parallels, Courtside...

the Rookie images Panini uses for Select are much better than Optic, imo.

Panini is doing retail for Select NFL this year so that may be on the horizon.

I love select mostly because it is hobby only. I absolutely abhorr retail products. But the aesthetics are really there too. Except for the horrible tmall unnunbered garbage. Select just has a classiness to it. Plus autos are often on card vs prizm not. Though optic has both as well. And I know the 3 tiered system irks some but I like it and love me some courtsides!
