Default This is the first time in a while...

That I haven't heard or read about a theft!

I think that's great news! Is the security that much better this year?

There is a big IG story about a stolen Orange Apache case. The guys is highlighting certain serial numbered cards with pictures that would have been in the case and he is hoping whoever took it is stupid enough to sell at the show.

Not sure it was posted on the scammers Facebook page. Sounds like he was.

I think the Conway guy was posting all over Facebook he was bringing that one card with him which would make him a target for anyone since they knew he had it on him. And he even mentioned it was for sale for 25,000. I could also be wrong but I remember a dual auto with them. I mean that is why I brought one of those rolling suit cases to the ac one its easy to keep in front of you when looking and hard for anyone to open without you noticing

Man, that sucks. That's the first time I heard of it and I've been here since the door opened on Wednesday. That's crazy!

this is why i rarely go to shows, if it happens here imagine how often it happens at places with zero cameras and just about next to zero security

I had $10k+ in cards and a couple thousand cash in a drawstring bag on my back. The key is to make it look like you have nothing. If you’re carrying fancy cases you’re a target. I’m honestly surprised we don’t hear more unfortunate stories. That parking garage could be easy pickings with no cameras.

Yeah, I'm one step up from a bum (with no odor)! No one wants my backpack!

They make theft proof backpacks where all the openings are double covered and on the side facing your back but I still always keep my expensive items and $$ in front of me when on me.

CardPorn on IG and a couple different Twitter handles are posting and re-tweeting about different cards being stolen.

It's definitely unfortunate...

I did wonder if this was going to be an issue this year, especially with all the YT "celeb bros" walking around with their camera crews...
What would stop someone from following them back to their hotel and jacking them for whatever they got...

There was a lot more security at this show than I have ever seen. Tons of Rosemont Public Safety Officers in uniform, private security, and I'm sure undercover officers.

I just saw the one incident at the Autograph Pavilion where a security person was called to help with a situation.

Police were also helping direct traffic and get people across the street from the convention center to the garages earlier in the week than normal.

I've never understood why people steal #d cards? It's so easy to track back to who stole them

One of the $1 box tables had a guy walk off w/a box of $ cards-I think they said about 400 and they tracked him down and got him. I'm sure there were others where either the people didn't know they were stolen from or won't admit it. In fairness, and I want to be polite, about 1/4 of the tables had stuff that you just were not going to make $ taking from with 8x10s of jan stenerud, robin yount 2012 bobbleheads etc.

What's wrong with carrying high value cards in a backpack? If you use a pelican case, that is screaming....STEAL ME, STEAL ME! Backpack...it could be a bunch of junk or a bunch of high dollar cards...

I was standing right there when it happened and that dealer was an animal. He just RIPPED that backpack from that guy. Then the thief was so shocked, he took out his wallet and acted as though he was going to pay for them all. This all happened with less that 15 minutes until closing. The dealer kept yelling SECURITY - SECURITY. They had a great 50% box with some great 90's inserts, and I had just finished spending a couple hundred dollars. Would have spent more but this was very distracting.
