Default Spencer Torkelman……..

IT DOESN’T MATTER what his name is.

A) Is it over and you have jumped ship?

B) Holding?

C) Buying the dip?

D) I sold that fool years ago!

I was never on that ship. JJ Bleday taught me to avoid college bats as much as possible.

The better question is what happens if the disastrous starts for the biggest young hobby names continue?

Tatis
Julio
Vlad
Witt
Robert
Franco
Soto
Acuna

All have been an abomination as far as achieving on field performance that translates into hobby success. Maybe this season will help people finally wake up.

He's a white kid from college with a baby face. Super Easy Pass from the start.

You think all of these guys are having disastrous starts? What’s the opposite of pumping?

The thing about Tork is his batted ball profile looks solid but it's not translating at all. Tigers fan here but I'm out. He may not be a 4A guy but definitely not seeing a 1-1 star here.

.120 ISO, 70 grade power.

He's a bench bat in 12-team fantasy. Not hobby good.

Positive for nandrolone.

I think we've come to the point where if he thought he'd done something wrong he would have admitted it. His apology did not provide that. You can tell he wanted to skewer the testing system but he probably couldn't for whatever reason.

Any chance of being a late bloomer like Goldschmidt or arenado?

Acuna is playing out of this world. Franco has answered a lot of questions that I had about him.

Those guys are all busts, the only guy you should be investing in right now is Elly De La Cruz.

In the current market? Any appreciation in prices. Here are the 3 month returns on each player’s Card Ladder index. Not perfect, but a fair comparison of these players.

Tatis -22%
Julio -43%
Vlad -11%
Witt -57%
Robert -15%
Franco -19%
Soto -15%
Acuna -13%

Not sure how else you expect us to interpret this…

and if your talking about just the hobby than anyone with half a decent analytic brain would deduce it’s the hobby, not the players.

Also, I don’t know about the index but Robert’s 1st Bowman autos are up across the board since the start of the season/spring training.

But we all get it, you hate what the hobby has become since you joined in 2017

Depends on the card, I have a few that are up since then.

This is a case of a receding tide lowering all boats, not about player performances (except Witt & Julio, who havent performed to expectations, so it makes sense).

Are they up since he was popped? Or since the last injury?

Are you capable of reading an entire post, or just the first sentence?

Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the former. We know breakers aren’t the smartest of the bunch.

And that’s my point. That even when you put up respectable numbers, it is VERY hard to beat the hobby’s expectations. This is the same story every year. But the losses are now far more pronounced. This season should cool off prospecting.

Got it. Never paid attention to card ladder. I’m absolutely crushing (paper gains) the CL Acuna -13% in many circumstances with purchases since the beginning of the year.
