Default Need Help Looking For A Card That May or May Not Exist

I have a family member who is a retired agent/player. He recently mentioned that he had a baseball card (Topps) and I was unable to find it listed on eBay or anywhere in a google search.

His name is Tony (could have been Anthony on the card) Attanasio and he played in the Cleveland organization from 1961-65 and reached AAA. If anyone has this card I’d love to purchase it or it would simply be nice to know if it exists.

Thanks!

It’s quite possible he had a regional issue or team premium printed, most likely while he was in AAA. I don’t have my catalogue handy, but like you said a quick Google search doesn’t turn up anything. If he specifically said “Topps” and has seen it, I’d bet he talking about Topps Minor League Player of the Month sheets. They were magazine inserts that featured several players per page. They aren’t listed in Lemke’s bible, but IMO are more a frakencard. Many sheets have been cut up and pasted to card board backing and called “Topps Minor League Star Panels.” I’m not old enough to verify this, nor really looked into it - but I picked one up for a type collection and that was my rough opinion. There is a seller on eBay with tons of them. Might be worth contacting him.

Thank you for the information and I did come across the minor league star panels but had no luck finding him or any sort of checklist which I figured may not exist.

Thanks for that. I had seen some 1964 Portland Beavers team photos but not the 1963 photo

Don't know if it will help or not but about 8 years ago was in Cleveland, Ohio visiting family and went to a shop that had several boxes of those sheets glued on card stock. Might be worth a shot in the dark to call around in that area might get lucky!! Good Luck on your search.

I’m almost positive the last story is actually a different Tony Attanasio but the first two are him. Married to my grandmother.

You're right on the last one, same name and a bit too young - nonetheless he was a Marine. Might not be a card but this would be a pretty cool keepsake.
