Default Which rookie card to get?

I collect football only really, but I decided I will PC Jeter Downs since we have the same last name. Today I was looking at some cards, and I noticed there’s so many different rookie cards.
Over the long term, which ones are considered the most desirable? I picked up a 2017 first bowman chrome auto, but I noticed he still has rookie cards from 2021? Very confusing

Any help is appreciated!

Jeter Downs’ rookie card is in 2023 Topps Series 1 #165. You can probably get some nice parallels cheap. He’ll be in other products released in 2023 as well. Everything before that is a prospect card. As far as value, I have no idea.

Rookie card is the one with rookie card logo (not the 2021 bowman best wander franco with no RC logo.. SMH).

any year before that rookie year like above mentioned is the prospect cards.

Thanks guys. So if this guy turns out to be any good, would be official rookie card be better value is? Or the prospect card?

1st bowman better value, but can't go wrong with rookie cards. definitely not the prospect cards which are the years between 1st bowman and rookie card. I'm guessing 2018-2020 are the prospect cards.

I would say that you have a great example of his best prospect card (Gold BCD Auto - looks great).

If you want something else, Marlins mentioned his RC Rookie - 2023 Topps Series 1 #165. Look for a low-numbered parallel (Black, Indy, Camo, Clear, Red).

You got his best first year card already, congrats!

That will be his most valuable down the line as well.
