Default i would expect to get ghosted on ebay, but here?

Though I'm still quite new to the forums, I've been really impressed with the community standards (and have learned a thing or two along the way), so I'm a bit surprised to get ghosted after agreeing to accept an offer and being told when to expect payment by. I've had a couple of deals fall through here, but always with good communications both ways. Oh well, I guess it's just the nature of the hobby.--and these forums do seem like a bit of an oasis compared to things I hear about ebay, WhatNot, an other selling options.

You need to leave a negative feedback if a BO user backed out from an agreed upon transaction.

Would be great to see more details of the transaction....timing of who said what and when....hard for me to recommend leaving a negative without having more info.

Let us know what you were going to deal and you just may have it be sold.

Maybe your last feedback scared them off.

You need to share details and leave appropriate feedback.

Update: the buyer has reached out and apologized—does want the card, but still hasn’t paid. I’m unclear on when that supposed to happen. I'm hesitant to leave specifics at this point because I don't want to "out" the buyer if he is making a fair attempt at completing the deal...sometimes we make mistakes that we then fix (as noted above, I deservedly received a neutral feedback when I misplaced an item I thought I had shipped--that buyer gave me a second chance and bought again from me this week, so I'll be happy. for both of us in this new situation if the buyer does actually. follow-up and complete the transaction. If not, I guess I will feel obligated to leave appropriate feedback).

That's what I see. Would like to know time frame. Has it been a week or just a day or 2. Big difference on how to handle

Oh, come on now--I don't there's anything in my posts or my actions that reflect your comments. But I guess making that's a perk of being a veteran responding to a rookie. Thanks for your input.

It’s day 3…only one response since “I’ll pay you tonight” message when we made the deal. I will stand by holding off naming anyone until appropriate—I am trying to give him a chance to pay. As for using the forum to scare someone into paying, beyond the ethical ickieness. I don’t think the traffic in this thread would make that a very productive approach.

Nope - you are completely in the wrong OP. But go get yours right?

You know, I would accept that (reluctantly) if you could offer a reasonable explanation as to how. But would take more than a one sentence post. I noted in my first post that I’m still learning the community—maybe help in that process instead of just slinging. I’m definitely open to that discussion.

IF the agreement was they would pay THAT NIGHT, and it has been 3 days since that night, there is the issue.

Name names and provide details. That is what this section of the forum is for. To help each other from getting scammed or getting into problem deals.

It is not for making a thread with absolutely zero details so that you can get yours and then say everything is swell.

The essential steps to a successful callout thread:

1. Be clear

You must clearly explain what you are talking about. Many threads go off the rails because the op is not clear. Don't ramble. Be concise. Use punctuation! A run-on sentence will just make you look foolish.

Don't post a thread and say anything like, "for now I am not naming any names" - if you want help, help us and name who you are talking about. A thread about another member without posting the username can get your thread deleted.

All fair enough—thanks for that. I was just lamenting with the original post, but I understand now this forum is for more specifics…lesson learned. The buyer actually paid tonight—evidently he was quite ill…new he’s upset that I hounded him about payment. Posters in here have chastised me for not naming him—but I’m glad I didn’t because he fulfilled his obligation to pay. In this process I’ve been called out for just worrying about myself and getting paid. For not protecting the community. I politely disagree. A $40 sale isn’t worth that, trust me. I’m new here, but not everyone new is the selfish a-hole I’ve kind of been made out to be. My mistake was obviously posting the original post, which I’ll definitely approach differently if the need arises in the future. I respect these forums—but I also respect the hobby, and I’ll stand by giving another collector a second chance. Though there are a lot of scammers and dead beats, not everyone is…I couldn’t participate if I thought so. Still, I appreciate the lively discussion—and definitely have a better understanding of the expectations of this particular forum. Thanks again for your response.

Congratulations on getting yours. Can’t wait to see what excuse this mystery buyer will use next when they want to delay payment.

Anyone care to wager this yhread is the very reason he paid. Would not shock me one bit if there are not other issues coming up here either.

Granted people do get sick but buying online is the biggest health hazard there is. It's an overplayed excuse. It's not hard to pay unless you are on a coma.

I betbhe was posting here while he was "sick."

All not naming him has done is shrunk the list of people willing to deal with you and gave you zero credibility for future issues that may arise. This thread will come back to haunt you for years

amazing how many times over the years we have seen a "call-out" thread make a buyer have a miraculous recovery from an illness

OP, will it take you 17 days to ship the card, in turn, revealing the buyers identity because he creates a thread? Did you leave positive feedback for the previous buyer of the card lot that waited so patiently for 17 days? Is there more to that transaction?

Says 17 to be delivered not shipped. That could feasibly be a postal issue.

If he said he was going to pay tonight then ghosted until this thread was made the buyer is 100% full of crap and needs to be outed
