I understand the card in question is not baseball, but I figured this forum has the most traction so it’s most likely to be answered more swiftly.
I don’t often grade, so not sure how to deal with this. I knowingly purchased a card that was in a jacked up PSA case. The case has absolutely not been tampered with, however, the card was seemingly smooshed when PSA was closing the label. From what I can see, the card is more than likely damaged from this issue. I bought the card at a discount, knowing this was the case, but figured I’d just submit it for a reholder. What are the odds PSA will give me a lower grade based on the fact that the card is now damaged in the holder? It seems as if it were their fault to begin with. Any insight would be appreciated. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Im sure you've tried, but I had one from that exact Mickey release in the PSA case like that a few years ago. I knocked it around a little and it came loose in the slab.

Submit a CRC request for quality assurance and it will be reholdered free.

Stuff like this is one of many reasons I use SGC. Their custom inserts for cards like this prevent this stuff 99.9% of the time.

Just did some research and it seems as if I would have to be the original order holder and it would have to be done within 5 days of receiving the package. I submitted a request, so I’ll just have to wait and see.

FYI, this should go in the GRADING forum, for future reference.
You want to go here: https://www.psacard.com/myaccount/customerrequestcenter Choose "Quality Assurance Request", I would let the photos do the talking. You'd like PSA to review the card for potential damage that occurred while inside the PSA holder. Once you submit the request and they see the photos, they will approve the request and provide you a shipping label you can print and use to send it in. Once they approve the request, you will have to fill out a submission form on the site. They will enable the "CRC" selection in the menu of options on the submission form for your account (like 'grading', 'reholder', etc). It's an option that I don't believe is usually there on screen for you to choose. You'll enter the cert# in the form (and declared value) and it will populate the card data, similar to a re-holder request. If the cert# is deactivated, you just have to fill in a paper form which I think they will email to you, but that probably won't apply here since it's still active. Note the specific internal ticket number they provide to you in the email response and write that on the submission form as they instruct you to do in the email response. I think you can copy/paste it into the digital soft copy form before you print it, else just write it in the notes/comments section and highlight it. I think that covers the differences between this process and a 'normal' submission. I have done one of these in the past where I sent in a PSA-9 with edge damage from rattling around inside the holder. It was an early cert number so it had probably been graded in the late 90s. PSA confirmed the damage and they dropped the Mint 9 to an EX-MT-6 and paid me out the difference in market value via check. They only issue checks about once a month so it took ~6 weeks, but overall I could not be more impressed with the service and coverage on a card I had bought a long time ago and did not submit to PSA myself. They also gave me the option of getting the card back in a PSA-6 holder or raw. I took the free re-holder, so now I have a PSA-6 that's worth about $20 instead of a 9 that's worth about $250. My other experience with one like this was a '55 Golden Stamps Sandy Koufax that I bought at auction. The card arrived having shifted inside the holder and it had slid behind the internal border and became pinched in between the halves of the case, leaving an indentation in the paper-thin 'card'. Very similar to the MM above. I returned it since I had paid full price for the grade and it was clearly damaged in transit. I don't know what happened with that card afterwards....probably this same process and hopefully PSA covered it for the owner.
