Pickett was a 2nd rounder… middle 2nd at best… and the Steelers got stupid to draft the kid from PITT

But yes

Wonder how many fools bought cards of the 2022 class just to now be giving them to 6 year old kids say here enjoy it or put it in your bike spokes or light it on fire I don't care.

This is breaking news? 2022 football wax was the cheapest of any football or basketball class this decade by a landslide until Brock Purdy. Anything 2022 football is selling for what it is because of Purdy not because of any of those players potential.

Are we supposed to be shocked or something? Everyone was saying it was a weak class back then. One QB drafted in the first round, and it was one that followed FCG's insistence of "draft them in the first round to get the fifth year." Everyone else was third round or later. Third round is project and backup territory, and that's exactly what has resulted.

So is this a Purdy hype thread in disguise?

LOL, typical thread from the OP. There was one QB taken in the first two rounds, so no one expected this to be a QB draft.

Also, why leave off the guy that just went to the Super Bowl?

It doesn't fit the narrative.

Some would say he's making 'the call' here.

All aboard the train!

2021
Jax Trevor Lawrence jury still out
NYJ Zach Wilson backup
SF Trey Lance Traded to Dallas
Chi Justin Fields Bears moving on
NE Mac Jones Traded to Jax
TB Kyle Trask backup
Hou Davis Mills starter to backup
IND Sam Ehlinger Colts backup

This QB class had so much potential and wax prices were insane because of it (a strong draft overall offensively and defensively). This group failing to achieve success and fulfill potential hurts more than 2022 IMO. Lawrence has been showing signs of progressing but hasn’t crossed into elite QB status.

There was a 1st to 2nd year jump, but Trevor stagnated at best this past year. Still good enough that he's a legit starting NFL QB, but a ways behind some guys like Hurts and Herbert who have done more and still aren't 2nd tier.

Bro was 8-3 and about to go 9-3 when he seemingly blew his knee out and the kicker missed. And was playing close to an All Pro level before dealing with:
-knee
-AC joint
-ankle
-concussion

Also 2-0 against Herbert inc a playoff win. What has Herbert done that is more? Lawrence is a top 10 'very good'QB with upside to potentially be elite.

I'm adding this as it seems to get left out when people talk about stagnant and bust. I also assume they don't watch many Jag games.

Okay. 11 games through the year:

12 Passing Tds, 7 Interceptions. 250 passing yards per game. 3 Rushing TDs. Team averaged 23.1 ppg (would have been good enough for 12th in the league).

Defense was giving up 18.6 ppg (6th in the league)

It's not bad, but I wouldn't say it was much of a step up from the previous year. And if that's the 'blue sky, everything was going well' part of the season, then I don't think it makes a very good case that he didn't stagnate in 2023. Which isn't a terrible thing, but the fact is he threw TDs at a higher rate the previous year, and INTs and a lower rate for the part of the season he was playing his best.

And I'm old enough to remember people complaining about the 2020 class. We didn't know how big of a turd 2021 and 2022 would be.

Thumbs up

After over a decade in the league, the Class of 2012 had 4 QBs who started at least 1 game in 2023:

Kirk Cousins
Russell Wilson
Ryan Tannehill
Case Keenum

Two QBs who won Super Bowls:

Nick Foles
RW

Not to mention Andrew Luck walked away with 4 playoff wins in his career.

The point is with all the focus on the QB position pre-draft, seems like the modern draft classes are washing out the NFL faster than ever, No?
