Default eBay accepted offers now have to be accepted again?

I have an item listed as BIN or BO and I sent offers to those watching the item? One countered the offer I sent and I accepted their offer. Now they have to accept my counteroffer and the listing is still live.

What happened to once an offer is accepted the listing is sold?

Anyone else have this issue?

I don’t think I’ve run into it yet, but it might have something to do with payment. Have read some threads where the listing remains live even after seller accepts, until the buyer actually pays, and someone else could theoretically buy it and pay for it in the intervening time.

It is now set up that the item isn’t Sold until it is paid for when you accept a counteroffer in this scenario in case someone buys it all full price or the original sent offer. It encourages the buyer to pay quickly. I have mixed feelings about this setting.

Not sure why they dont just make a counteroffering buyer have to submit a payment card for autopay, like they do with most regular offers now.

This is how it works. Tge listing remains active until payment is processed.

What I have seen its happening when the seller sends an offer to the buyer. It's now when a seller counters a buyer's offer

I like it, especially since most of my non-pays are accepted offers.

Same here. Probably 90% of my non payers are offers. There is also the fact that items with open offers on them are enhanced in search and in many cases will sell whole offer is open. That's why I think some buyers try to rush sellers in accepting or declining offers

Because it should remain available until actually paid for. Many sellers do not like tge autopay neither do many buyers. I have already seen a spike in buyer's wanting to cancel after tgey pay. A seller would have to be stupid not to cancel at this point. In addition it cuts out buyers who like to use their ebay funds or other methods of payment
