Real flux hobby box or CT hits job?

this apparent low-key flux '22-23 mega and hobby box break. Was basically accepting it at face value until near the end. I've never opened the product (but have opened 20-21, and its nothing like this). Can't get over the nonstop case and rarer hits of top players that keep coming and coming.

Is this a low-key troll job, a take on the jacked Deca product? With a simple CT scanner, breaker could have gone through a case or three of product and built up the perfect box.

Took some notes and screenshots, providing a forensic account.

00:00 The episode is for some reason called “Paolo hunting.” First impression, trying to ride the hype.

6:25 “Signature cards that I usually keep go into the binder. I might do a binder update when I hit a thousand in value.”



6:55 Dyson Daniels mega cracked ice is no longer 0.28 cents. Now up to 0.50.

7:30 “I can see why people don’t like this set.”

7:48 “Ok. Jaylen Brown Celtics. That… that’s close to a color match, but that’s nice. I’ll put that in the keeps.” (Now up to an impressive $3 for a bass).



8:00 “Okay.” (Zion cracked ice). “Card’s kinda bent, you see that? I don’t know why cards come bent nowadays like this.”

8:50 “Tyrese Haliburton. Match. This is a very nice card with the color match.”

9:25 “Last pack. This being 60 bucks, did we make our money back? Probably not. From a collector’s standpoint? Maybe a keep, honestly. Wish there was more color matches.

10.19 “Okay… [puzzled tone] Mikal Bridges.” Pause. “I was like, Edwards has the ball, could that be an error? Nah, he’s there providing defense. Which he will with the Knicks. The Villanova Knicks picked him up. That’s what they call them. Now I wonder if they’re gonna make a card with the four of them, at the beginning of next season. Be a card to look out for, specially if they all sign it.”

16:15 “Oooh, what we have here. Hold on. [Reads the entire text verbatim] 'Basketball. Twenty twenty Panini Flux. Best of the Best Signatures. Card One. Player: Luka Doncic.' Expires on my dad’s birthday. This is not the one of one, right? I am… going to keep that. Definitely have to do some research, but….”

17:00 “We have a red cracked ice of Russell Westbrook. Nice.” [shrugs] $65 flashes on the screen—most expensive valued card of the break so far.

21:00 Pulls a Paolo Banchero sunrise, way more excited than with the Luka 1-1. “Got a Paolo. “That’s what I’m talking about. Paolo hunting.” Pulls it away to reveal a moonlight Paolo. Total shock. “Two. Back to back Paolo. Not numbered though."

Observation: Even after those further miracle hits in this influencer-box to end all influencer-boxes, host has a tabulated profit of only $80.50, given a $180.00 original investment. Collecting community is really harsh on flux’ value or his calculations are whack.

Uncovers an Anthony Edwards full capacity. 26:10: “So like our only numbered card was like a James Harden so far.”

28:02 Hits a Luka lunar eclipse /75. This puts the total box value over the limit, as total value rises from $227 to $300.


Oh snap $300,000.

I’m tempted to say this is a low-key comedy sketch and the guy CT’d the hits of like a couple dozen cases together in a single box. Just to show it could be done.

That product is so ugly.. To me it isn’t worth the trash bag I’d throw it in..

I like the design. If every set looked like that I would trash on it, but the aesthetic is unique and really changed radically between the '20-21 and '22-23 iterations.

The chromium is not messed up with busy scope and wave elements except where they belong, on parallels.

To me every other new edition of a set looks basically like the last. Really racking my brain for a Panini issue where that was not true.

First year flux was a banger. If they left it at that it'd be a pretty unique niche set with Titan and Full Capacity. The following year just bleh.

If anything needs to get a CT scan it's anyone who dropped a lot of money ripping second year Flux.

I did not come to bury Caesar however. My principle question was, is this a real box? Seemed like a pertinent question in this age of potentially CT assembled hype.

We all have our ways of enjoying the hobby. Since money is involved, usually largish sums, people do care.

If it is a real box, the whole break is unintentional comedy gold. Hitting the rarest possible cards and complaining about getting two numbered cards.

As much as some "breakers" or "influencers" tend to hype stuff, pre-CT scanning some batches of "early" cases from various card brands got a strange skew rate of inserts.
On the strange side of only getting two numbered cards in my own experience, 70% of the base cards being crap typically results in abnormal rare foil/numbered cards... had a blaster had been a bust until the last pack. I'm just waiting for a day I get trolled by a blaster box of all junk then an auto+patch.

Forgetting the worthless base, this flux hobby box is crazy though.

In NT terms, it's as if you got the rarest RPAs, autos, and parallels across all 7 cards, Panini slipped you an 8th card, and among those all you hit were top rookies and veterans. Only two of those being numbered.

Now in a $180 box that still makes the haul this side of $10k (unless a 1-1 Luka auto from any random set goes for much more).

I know that Topps has been doing hot boxes for a while and Panini did have the Downtown fiasco, but this is collation madness.
