Default ** The PERENNIAL Derek Jeter Thread **

I just want to see Jeter cards. I couldn’t find a dedicated thread like a lot of the other highly collected players have, and his card catalog spans some really interesting decades of cards, so I think this could be pretty interesting and educational for collectors looking to see some underappreciated sets from the 00s and 10s. Feel free to share anything small or big… or just watch along and tip your cap to the Captain.

Default ** The PERENNIAL Derek Jeter Thread **

Most significant thing I ever did in collecting, by far. Had to move on with it, and lost my ever loving shorts, but YOLO.

http://www.psacard.com/psasetregistr...timeset/266559

I probably collected as hard as PuddleMonkey for two years!

Still got these…

And got to hold two of these…

Jeter will always be my favorite Yankee. I have over 2600 of his cards, an All Star jersey, and an autographed 1996 Rookie of the Year plaque. He also hit #3000 on my birthday.

I had an amazing PC of Jeter with everything. Multiple star rubies pmgs credentials you name it. I still have a few in my collection, but my focus shifted more to building a Jordan PC.. a couple pics of some of the decent ones I have left, but I still have a ton of low end left.

It has been in that case since at least 1995 when I got it signed at a Mudhens game.

Tough one - believed by some to be an autographed parallel to the more common jersey card that didn’t make it into packs so was instead given to 10-20 executives as a gift. Only seen two others. Hard to know for sure as there isn’t much literature on it at all. Just anecdotes passed down by long term collectors who saw these hit the block around the time these sets were released.

Thanks for posting! The hobby hatred for Derek Jeter is real. Guy misses a unanimous HOF entry by a single vote, yet hobbyists still argue David Wright would have been better had he stayed healthy. Unreal! To me, Jeter comes right after Griffey in terms of most accomplished and collectible players from the 1990s. Of course, the only difference is Jeter has five rings! He also has the most expensive modern baseball rookie card in a PSA holder, I believe. Perhaps even the top two if you count that Mirror Gold thing from 1996. Guess it might be a good time to start scooping up more of his stuff?

PS: Another good candidate for his own perennial thread from about the same period would be Bo Jackson.

Lessons #1 and #2 why you should dig through dollar boxes whenever you find them:

2010 Topps Tribute Black Derek Jeter #75 serial #02/99 jersey #:

I found this in the dollar boxes at a local shop a few years ago. Told them it was worth more than a dollar, they still sold it to me for $1.

2019 Stadium Club Photographer's Proof Derek Jeter #141

I found this at a show a couple of weekends ago. Told the dealer it's worth a lot more than $1, he said he's clearing inventory for the National. I also got a '22 SC Photographer's Proof MacKenzie Gore RC for a $1 from the same box.

^^ Nice!!! Congrats on the Jeter, great condition for the card. (Not that it matters on a 1/1!)

These are also from the Fleer Jeter Legacy Collection like the Yankee Clippings above. The 1993 Ultra card was not released until 2004 and it was only as a redemption replacement, ~150 copies. Much harder to find than the 1993 Fleer which had a more generous print run of 500 copies.

Both designs are from sets I opened heavily as a kid and the design carries a ton of nostalgia for me. These were the two examples of Jeter autographs I sought out for my collection. They complement each other perfectly. Home versus away uniform, batting versus fielding, simple design versus glossy/foiling.

These are not rare like some of the cards posted here, but I feel these are standout examples of autographs from the early 2000s as rookie cards that never were.
