michael jordan e-x2000 a cut above insert - how to spot real & fake?

hi guys, i have read in some threads here that apart from bmoc and rave, there are fake jordan e-x2000 a cut above cards circulating from taiwan. i hope experts here can share how to differentiate the real from fake.

here are several jordan a cut above (raw & graded) currently listed on ebay

buy graded!

0007 or below grade numbers

Op, to tell the difference in real to fake...

Look at the 1st card, look at the surface, notice there's no long wavy lines on it, it only has the original correct dimples...

Then look at the ones from Taiwan, they all have a wavy surface...

It's the SAME surface that I caught onto with the BMOC and Z peats....

That's the tell.

Seriously, it's over for 90's inserts. If they've mastered this kind of insert card then there is no stopping the forgers now.

Never thought I would say this but you want to look for chipping on edges and corners. Usually fakes are pristine.

Ok, I thought I better show how to tell these fakes in detail...
But unless you have a good pic in the right light it's going to be hard to spot the difference if your buying off ebay, a scan is even harder to tell...

Take notice of the surface of each card, A REAL A cut above - the TEXTURE has small dimples/holes, the dimples are fine and are very small NOT like the fakes!...A fake has a larger texture across the entire surface, like your looking at the ocean from above.....Wavy = (ocean affect)

Next up is a FAKE A cut above, again take notice of the texture of the surface...
Look across from MJ's knee, see the wavy LARGER texture!...(look at that ocean!)


Another FAKE A cut above, same wavy LARGER texture...
Look above MJ's head....(ocean's back!)




I hope that sheds some light on how to spot these FAKE A cut aboves, the TEXTURE on the FAKE A Cut aboves is the EXACT same TEXTURE found on the FAKE BMOC and BMOC - ZPEAT's...

Its almost as if they banged up the second one so it appears to be authentic from the 90's. The measures these #@#@#@#@#@#@#@s will go is really sickening.

Anybody know if these ex2000 cut aboves with a line going down down the middle are real? I have seen it on the left and right side on kemp rodman and hakeem....on this rodman i uploaded its on the top left and stops mid card anyone have any experience with these?

I would recommend contacting user rogermaris, knows pretty much anything/everything about 90s cards.

Fairly certain the Rodman is real. Most noticeable is the bottom grooves between the blades. Perfectly rounded grooves I've noticed on some of the raw Jordans are fake. I haven't seen any other players counterfeited.

This looks like a refractor line to me.
The line seems to be a problem with some of these. Either sometimes they affect the grade and sometimes they don't (or if it's an artifact if a scanner is used instead of a camera)

Wow great info thankyou guys! So my shawn kemps real just has a refractor line alot happier with that than buying a fake...they should really do something to stop this its crazy that these grading companies are making so much money and wont pay for the technology needed to spot them even for themselves as they still grade counterfeits
