Default Wilt Chamberlain 1999 UD Century Sig - eBay Chargeback Scam Artee Wang

Hello All,

We wanted to post this in hopes of helping the community and blocking this buyer on eBay. Selling on eBay for over 20 years, we have never had such an incident. Now that eBay has finally concluded with the case, we will do a quick overview of what transpired between the buyer Apstudio813, for the Wilt Chamberlain 1999 UD Century Signature Card.

The buyer submitted an offer which we accepted, and then messaged us requesting to refund the shipping charges. We did speak with eBay about this and they said we do not have to since the offer includes whatever shipping costs are listed. However, we still wanted to make the buyer happy on such a high end order, so we did end up refunding the shipping costs.

The buyer made some comments about waiting for their buyer to pay them (since payment was not made until the next day). After the payment was made they also commented about PayPal double charging them. Again, this is something as both a buyer and seller have never heard of happening. They then say it must be a “bug” and to ship the card ASAP so they can get it to their client.

The card was sent to eBay’s authentication program and cleared without issue. The buyer received the card on Dec 16, 2024 (Lebanon, NH 03766). Over 3 weeks after receiving the card a case was opened for “double payment”. This of course is something as a seller we have no control over, so several calls to eBay were made, saying this was done with the buyers bank. eBay confirmed that they only saw one charge – and we certainly were not paid twice. Due to this card going through the authentication program, eBay said we would be protected. Finally this week, eBay closed the case, noting the bank sided with the buyer (which is astonishing as the buyer will now get both the card and a full refund @ $14,000!).

We have no idea if this buyer has done this with others. They have positive feedback on their account, but nothing in the last year. If anyone has additional information about this individual please share it here, so we can protect other members of the community. Here are the timeline and eBay user info:

Dec 6, 2024 - Offer Accepted
Dec 7, 2024 - Paid
Dec 9, 2024 - Shipped to eBay authentication
Dec 12, 2024 - Authenticated by eBay
Dec 16, 2024 - Delivered (Lebanon, NH 03766)
Jan 7, 2025 - Payment Dispute Filed

Do you have the actual address it was sent to? If so can you PM it to me? I don’t think that Artee Wang is a real name.

Unfortunately, we do not. Since it went through the authentication program we sent it to PSA, and they forwarded it them.

Do you have an email address? Assuming not.

One of our fellow USPS members could get the geolocated delivery data from the tracking number, but not sure if they will.

No luck on that either. eBay sent it to them via Fedex (in case that could help track the address).

No - seems like a totally different person. I had to search this as well.

Ebay should cover the cost? That's the entire point of the "guarantee" program. I remember with the fake PMG BGS the buyer and seller were made whole and it was eBay that took the hit.

I believe the OP's point is to out scammer's in case someone is not covered. Sure this is a $14k sale but how many could afford a $1400, $400 or even $200 hit in their business or side hustle?

This. ^^^

To be honest, the seller was lucky eBay covered him. I have been on eBay for many years and I have found they are much more protective of buyers than they are of sellers. My goodness, a seller is not even allowed to leave honest feedback for a buyer unless it is positive, and that has been for many years now.

But good on the OP for outing this criminal and sharing the story. Thank goodness for block lists.

That Lebanon NH address is Get It Shipped International. I have an account with them and as a Canadian, I buy from US Sellers and have the cards shipped there. They accumulate them and then send them to me when I request them.

Your buyer is international and could be in just about any country outside of the US. I would contact GISI and see if they can help. If you have a police report started, let them know.

Artie Wang would also have a "PO Box" in their address, which is the number assigned to GISI customers that have registered their information with them.

I get it, I was just making sure he was covered and didn't lose out on anything.

I assume eBay did absolutely nothing here? Did not suspend or ban the scammer/buyer?

the high end sports card market place is a total scam. I dont understand while people still risk eBay in buying and selling with anonymous users. Its almost as if you are asking to get ripped off.

Why not sell it in person? The card is in high demand and could easily be flipped at any show. Why risk big transactions online using 3rd parties?

most sports card collectors don't like going out in the "real world"

it's a fake name and going to be just a mailbox or mailbox service. most likely scenario:

scammer steals credit card

scammer buys stuff online and has it shipped to mailing service address or rented house

real credit card owner finds unauthorized charges and files chargeback

scammer gets cards they can resell for cash, ebay eats it.

Firstly, Artee is like some uber rare female name only found in the nether realms of India.

Tying it to a chinese last name is the etymological equivalent of Tanner Mohammad.

I don't even think 3 real Artees exist in the entire world.

The fact this name is now tied to 3 different high end kard scammers leads me to believe these are all the same person utilizing different international addresses.

If you see the name Artee or ANY of its variants in the Ship To field, cut the engine on your Kia, double back out the USPS parking lot, and head back to the casa.
