Seems about time he gets his own thread, stepping up big for the Braves this year as the ace with Soroka out. My sleeper pick for a CY Young this year and could potentially see him getting one or two at some point in his career. He's got some dominant stuff

Impressed. Nasty curveball. Works fastball in, out, up. Pitchability for sure. Could use a little fine tuning on his command.

Not quite #1 pitcher tools (scout speak, does not mean he can't be the #1 starter on his team). More of a strong #2/#3 starter. WAR and other advanced stats have him a CY contender, but I think Bauer or deGrom are ahead of him. At least Max is the best active Jewish pitcher (Sandy Koufax Award?).

I like how calm he is. Even when he makes a mistake, he furrows his brow for a second, takes a deep breath, and gets back at it. It’s nice to see that professionalism in a guy so young. And his stuff is nasty!

I own Fried's 2012 Bowman Chrome Draft Autograph Gold Refractor #01/50. Pulled it out of one of the boxes I broke of that product back in the day. He streaked his finger through his autograph, I remember it being a little smeared. I can't remember where I put it in my collection haha.

Have you watched him pitch? He isn’t succeeding on luck. The guy has filthy stuff. His early career injuries are what has kept him from projecting as an ace. And those injuries are in the past. He absolutely has ace tools.
