Default Leaf metal pop century pre-production proof

Does any body know if the Leaf pop century pre production proofs can easily take a signature?

Is the "signature" surface prepped to accept a signature is what I mean.

.....and does getting a pre production proof card signed diminish the value of the proof? I have been reading articles on that subject but they seem to be more about sports cards as opposed to non sports cards.

Well, there are two groups of collectors out there. One that prefers things the way they came from the factory, and one where it doesn't matter. Think Topps cards that are slabbed being taken out, or Rittenhouse case hits removed from the stickered top loader.

That's true in sports and non-sports.

On the other hand, I don't think people really put much (any?) value in the Leaf proofs.

Bottom line, if you are getting a Leaf proof signed, go for it. But if you're expecting to retire from it, reign in your expectations. Maybe someone somewhere out there will want it, but I wouldn't plan on getting more than the signer charges to sign things, if that.

Thanks glorbgorb. I just needed some clarity.

I have a few and they are very thin. They are mostly cheap, so I would buy the cheapest one I could find and test a Sharpie on it yourself.

The Leaf cards all have sticker autos, correct, so the surface of the card isn't made for signing. Like someone else said, you'd need to get a Leaf Metal card and test it with a few different pens.

Metal and chrome cards typically don't do well with sharpies. I know someone what had like 100 Chrome Stars wars cards signed in black sharpie and the cards ended up absorbing the ink or it rubbed off. Now they have 100 cards that just have black smudges.
