Default Another plotted school shooting in oregon foiled this time!

Just heard through the grapevine that there was another planned high school shooting in the works here in oregon. This time in Eugene which is basically the same area as the '01 Springfield high school shooting that killed two students plus injured many more as well as him killing his parents the night before.

Guess this one was foiled before anything happend thank god. What the hell is in the water these days thats making punks do this crap? We have a 4yr old son and 2 6yr old daughters in pre-school and elementary and Im getting to the point where I just want to have them home-schooled or use the Charter school systems which is better anyway.

If I remember correctly there was also a school shooting planned in Oklahoma for the same day the Sandy school shooting happened. An 18 year old was arrested.

what the hell is wrong with these kids? I dont think guns are the problem. Might need to tighten up the availability of them or something (not take them all away) but they need to grow some balls and deal with there damn depression issues differently and learn to get over it.

You guys think games such as Call of Duty play a partial roll in the desencitizing of there minds at all? I kinda do. And I was hooked on those games for awhile but I never wanted to go take it out on inniocent people!

I will have to disagree with you. I personally do not think movies, music and games make kids do these things. I listen to bands like slayer, gwar, danzig, the misfits, ect and I was always accused of being "the kid that would shoot up the school" because I didn't act like eminem and everyone else did. I also love action/horror movies and played resident evil games and I never once thought about shooting up a school. I will admit I have had my fair share of fights but that was only when someone would swing/hit me first.

I am currently a youth counsler in which my cadet graduated from the academy at the top of the class (132 other people, also im not bragging I am just saying that it's not always the stuff the media blames, its the people). I am also about to graduated with my criminal justice degree and thinking of going for a psychology degree as well.

Also if games, music, movies ect played a roll in how kids act then how come we are just shoving pills down their throats because they don't feel good or have low self esteem or can't pay attention. I think we need to take a good look at everything not just certain stuff. I feel that kids need professional help from doctors just not pills if they are having problems.

Again nothing against you as I have never dealt with you but I just do not think it is fair to blame certain things and not look at the picture as a whole, it is easy to blame others for problems in this world.

there needs to be more awareness and support of people with mental health issues out. i read a story of one of the villains where they came across as weird, threatening, or creepy to people at a school and made people fearsome. Nothing was ever done about the person, who may have had schizophrenia until it was too late. there should be a psychological screening before these guns are issued and not just be freely ordered off of the internet. these stories all have this one thing in common.

Mental health is still a poorly understood, but real problem. A few years ago I read that the vast majority of the homeless (think: bums) have debilitating mental illness.

Not even 50 years ago, an individual could be 'committed' for life and offered no life choices. Out of side and out of mind mentality.

My mother told me of a great uncle who was committed for what is now believed to have been schizophrenia. Her father visited this relative on a few occasions, but never spoke about his visits. These 'asylums' were often more brutal than prison. Families were unable to deal with the problems and medicine at the time (and for the most part today) didn't know how to treat the conditions.
