Default 100 caser poll

I am planning to stagger the bid deadlines to try and alleviate some server load.

My idea is to have three different deadlines:

Prospect & Rookie autos - Saturday April 26th @ 11pm EDT
Prospect Chrome - Sunday April 27th @ 11pm EDT
Minis & Parallel/Insert Lots - Monday April 28th @11pm EDT

Payment deadline - Tuesday April 29th @ noon EDT

Break starting - Wednesday April 30th @ noon EDT (maybe earlier if possible)

My thought process is that everyone will be gunning for the autos as usual. If I put the autos last, bidders may skip the other sections and focus entirely on the autos - saving their money for that one final push.

So if we put the autos first, then everyone will know their remaining budget (if any) for the chrome, mini, and insert lots.

So, does this make sense or should we try to have it end all at once again? We REALLY slowed the server last time and that was just 20 cases of Contenders.

I like your thinking, seems like a smart move

It will control some of the madness.

Good idea,

I like the idea, but I suggest putting the auto spots last since it will give everyone more time to bid and make bids higher as it is a large chunk of the money

I voted SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY, because no matter what you do there will always be that one person that gets super butthurt.

I understand your point of view and it makes sense on paper.

However, I have actually run one this way on HHoC and it didn't work. Most simply ignored the other sections because they were hoping to hit the autos. The auto spots went to the levels expected, but everything else was so underbid that we had to scrap the auction.

Have you run it autos last before? Because it's entirely possible there's just no interest in non-auto product ...

Yes, I have run it autos last before.

I don't believe that is the case because the autos performed as expected and the non-auto/lots were underbid compared to auctions that end at the same time.

I'm not asking if autos should be first or last. I think I have that part down. (Although I could be wrong I guess - I only have one example really.)

I'm asking if staggering the deadlines is a good idea or if we should just roll the dice and try to end them all at once.

Normally I think I have this down, you know? But if I come across something that I am unsure about, I want to hear others thoughts and ideas. It helps me make decisions where I haven't come across it before.

Like breaking into 1-50 and 51-100 vs 1-100. I was leaning towards 1-100, but the points made for 1-50/51-100 made sense to me. We'll see how this ends though and possibly adjust for next time.

Also, the Tanaka base card. That was an interesting dilemma and I went with popular vote there.

Here again is a situation where I'm just not entirely sure.

I know I can come across as kind of a jerk sometimes in these posts which isn't my intention. Just reads that way sometimes.

I do find these discussions invaluable.

You could probably even just break it up into two end dates, Sunday for the Auto's and Monday for everything else. Most people should know who they want to bid on and how much there willing to pay, at least for the auto's, that way on Monday if the bid minimum is in jeopardy that might lead to more bidding on the non-auto stuff to get to that minimum. Just a thought.
