Do they think they pinstripe on his pants is his autograph trailing off the sticker?

I bet they gave it their new "11" black gold label.

It slants across the sticker a bit, so good chance it’s not a 10. It doesn’t go completely off the sticker, so it’s not a 7 or anything. So that leaves an 8 or a 9. You’re outraged enough by it to start a new thread… so I’ll guess 8.

I believe the only things Beckett takes into consideration is streaking, runoff the sticker, and whether the grader is legally blind. |

If it's a 10, there won't be a thread. So, I say an 8!

Not a slant in general, but a slant that causes it to go over the letters on the sticker. Either way, I can’t say I’m familiar with their auto grading standards. This is just me trying to figure out why it didn’t get a 10.

Beckett makes zero sense with their auto grades. Like, how is there a scale of 10? I think the lowest I've ever seen is an 8, so how the hell would someone get like a 2? What would that even look like?

Although, sometimes it makes sense. Guys like Albies and Luzardo have trouble getting 10’s on their autos due to consistent streakiness. Sometimes the auto runs off the card, I can understand that not getting a 10. I think the lowest I’ve seen is a 6. A lot of times though, a sig that looks perfect gets a 9, and it makes no sense. Overall, I don’t particularly need or want a grade on the autos. |

It's a good thing they do not grade autos. based on the readability/clarity where you can make out the letters/name.

Appears to be a 10. I'm guessing 8.

If you guessed an 8 you are the Champion!!
![]() I made the thread not because I’m enraged, but because I really am convinced BGS thought the pinstripe on the pants was the Auto going off the sticker. Not a high-value card by any means, but an 8 on the auto was quite a surprise. First 8 Auto I’ve ever had. —— My latest submission seemed to be full of low grades on Edges and Corners too….where I see no flaws, BGS sees an 8 or an 8.5 on them. Maybe they’re getting tougher or maybe the past graders were more lenient, but I don’t seem to see what they see. Waste of money on a lot of submissions! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossing over the letters on the sticker has zero bearing on the auto grade. Streaks or off the sticker/card is what they look for. A crooked sticker also has zero bearing on the grade.

Haha. I saw a 6 one time, but it was Beckett being lazy as hell and using an upside down 6 for a 9. Yes, the Beckett name was upside down too. LOL |

Probably what the OP himself said. They thought the pinstripe on his pants was part of his autograph. The auto going over some of the “Topps Certified Autograph Issue” wording has absolutely no bearing.

Why would you want an autograph graded? Seems silly to me. What a waste of money. A card is worth more cause it's auto is a 10 not 9, are people buying cards really this dumb?
I mean if the auto was smeared or looked like it was signed during a bender I get it, it's a crappy auto. We need these graded? |

As for this card I looked on ebay to compare it to other graded auto and they all seem to have the pant stripe right there with the auto and they are 10s. Grading autos makes no sense to me so I have no clue how it could be anything but a 10 unless there was a smear or the pen hit the card leaving mark or something. The guy signed his name on the card, he wrote it, everyone should be a 10 unless it smeared.
I dunno. My guess is the grader was native American and was offended seeing Indians written on that card and screwed you over. |
