Default Greatest Cinematic Trilogy Since 1998

Discuss.

Some notable trilogies that would be included under the "Other" options are the Internal Affairs Trilogy, the Millennium Trilogy (All of those "The Girl who..." movies), and the Blade Trilogy.

Being the second-biggest hipster on Blowout, I was really expecting you to say the Cornetto "Three Flavors" Trilogy.

Loved the first 2. Hated the third one. Been a while since I seen it though

Lord of the Rings and it’s not even close. Those movies stand the test of time.

What about Sam Rami’s Darkman trilogy?

I missed a checkbox :/

1. LotR (extended cut). Helps they were all filmed close together and PJ kept a tight rein on everything. A masterpiece that holds up today.

2. Bourne trilogy. Each movie did a good job building on the last. Like most trilogies, I liked the first two the best however the third one was still good. The OG modern Black Ops.

3. Other - Ocean's (11, 12, 13). Love these movies, excellent heisting movies that feel like there's a larger story with all sorts of references without the Lucasian need to create dozens of hours of additional content to tell.

4. Nolan Batman. First two great, third one mehhhh but not bad enough to leave the box unchecked.

Post 1998 it is easily Lord to the Rings and definitely agree with JPlarson that the extended editions are a must(specifically Two Towers) You can skip the extended edition of the final movie though. While it does not count as a trilogy I'd say Captain America: First Avenger/Winter Soldier/Civil War was one of the better 3 movie runs post 1998 too.

Lord of the Rings is probably the greatest trilogy of all-time. Back to the Future would be the other one to consider. Indiana Jones would be considered as well if you ignore the 4th movie. The Godfather had two films that were 10/10 but finished with a 1/10. The original Star Wars as well had two films that were 10/10 follow by a terrible end to that trilogy with Return of the Jedi which is probably a 3/10.

The Dark Knight Trilogy did not age well. While the villains are top notch in that trilogy Batman suffers from extremely poor fight scenes as well as making Batman look dumb as someone he employs invents all the gadgets for him.

At least Star Wars has redeemed itself in recent years....

Anywho, agree with everything you said.

Yeah but which one was the greatest? Isn’t that the question?

I voted for all options.

Since '98, the best trilogy is Nolan's "Batman" followed by "Lord of the Rings", although I like "Austin Powers" (which started in 1997) better than both.

Blade and the original Spider-Man series had a shot at the top 3 until the weak (by comparison to the first two) part threes were released.

Greatest trilogy of all-time is Night of the Living, Dawn, and Day of the Dead from George Romero.

Dead movies became disqualified once Land of the Dead was released.
I also really like the new Planet of the Apes trilogy .

Since "Land" came out 20 full years after "Day", and itself began a new trilogy (concluded with "Survival" and "Diary"), I consider that to be a second "Dead" trilogy, as with the 3 different Star Wars trilogies.

And good call on the new "PoTA" movies which were awesome.
All hail Caesar!!!

It was pretty amateurish as far as the film making goes. With all that money, you'd think they could've hired someone capable of holding the camera still.

I concede, fair comparison to the SW trilogies.
