Default Official San Antonio Spurs 2017-18 Season Thread

New season, new faces, and yet another roster built for a deep playoff run. This is the place for all things silver and black!

Really liking what I'm seeing from Aldridge and DJ in the opener against the Wolves. DJ especially seems like he's made big improvements in the off-season. He's moving much more confidently with and without the ball.

Hoping for another great season from this group. Just want to see Kawhi get back out there healthy.

Great start to the season. Racking up the points too.

Great start to the season. I like the look of this team and waiting to see more from White, Murray and BP3. I think the year will see these guys flourish

Agreed on Murry. Manu didn't look very good last night. Poor shooting and telegraphed a couple bad passes for turnovers.

Ofc I'll never sleep on Manu in the long run

I'm still amped about what Rudy can be for us. He's been productive enough so far, but I hold out hope he gets to a 25-pt a night threat so we can go small w Rudy at the 4 more. I think it could also depend on how Pop can get him defensively.

Good start. Danny stepping up and Rudy looking darn comfortable

What's the word on Kawhi?

I've heard rumblings of Kawhi being ready to return for the GS matchup on Nov. 2nd, although I'm not sure that's a great idea. Also, considering Pop's track record, it's likely that Kawhi would sit out even if he was 100% healthy.

With the way the Spurs have been winning, I'd like to see Kawhi come back after a healthy dose of recovery time, preferably against a weaker matchup. No reason to rush the franchise player back when the team is winning.

On a side note, I love what we're seeing from Aldridge. He finally looks motivated again.

The Spurs are consistently great, it's amazing. I hope he recovers soon because he's arguably the best player in the NBA, but it's better for my Magic this Friday if Kawhi sits out just a liiiittttllleee longer.......never wanna jump back in too soon

Gay's offense and DJ's improved play will be big for us later in the year if they can click with Tony and Kawhi when they return

So looking forward to this game. Can't wait to see the Juice in action against his old team. Wish he was still a Spur.

Funny how they were wrote off because other West teams added “talent”. Some people can’t see the basketball that’s being played.

lack of talented depth has shown these last couple games. Need TP and KL back soon.

On a different note, i've never understood why Anderson gets the PT he does. Drives me crazy, Pop must see something i've never been able to

He's a hustle player who plays motivated D and has a developing mid-long range jumper. He's like the prototypical Popovich pupil (say that 5 times fast). We could do much worse than Anderson out there. He's not spectacular but he's well-rounded.

Having said that, I did expect more progression from him by this point in his career. I thought he was going to be the 3rd or 4th best player on the Spurs at some point and that's not looking likely. He should round into an excellent role player this year though, if nothing more.

In other news, DJ is becoming a turnover machine. He really needs to take better care of the rock. I love when he forces his way in for two but his success rate on that move is dwindling.

anti-jinx post. 0-3 after starting 4-0

to your point, Anderson is just a bench player and really should be used in a limited role. Even with injuries. I've never been a fan but respect what he brings. Team is still fairly new and learning but didn't expect such a sluggish start. Granted 5 of the 7 being on the road doesn't help either.

I am definitely not overreacting to our start. We needed to beat either Orl or Indy but ish happens. Hopefully we'll get back on track at home.

Gotta remember, all this happening with no Leonard or Parker. Spurs will be FINE as usual.

Yup...I never bought the Spurs would just roll along perfectly without him, not after what we saw in the Conference Finals last year. Not a Spurs fan, but love Kawhi and hope he comes back soon!

Is there a chance Tony comes back before Kawhi?

These guys are fighting but they are a .500 team without him
