Default Fanatics Fest...who's going?

I went last year and I had a good time.

A noticed that PSA will not be there, so hopefully that is not an indication of the quality of the card area. Hoping I can get some decent off-season basketball prices.

Anyone else planning to go?

Where they doing it? I imagine NY is the last place you would least want to be a basketball dealer at the moment.

Entrance price is egregious and got way more expensive year over year. Dealers weren't priced well at all last year and no reason to think this year will be different. Most dealers here are forced to setup and probably also pay through the teeth to do so. Topps also realized they were giving out free money last year on the chrome boxes so this year, made the products on offer worse and more expensive to keep the money for themselves.

Understand what this event is. This is a Fanatics corporate profit grab of flexible spenders who either don't care or know any better. It's understandable as a business move. Just also understand if you're a savvy collector or trying to find value, this is not the place for it.

Someone send back photos if they find any Nesmith cards under glass cases in the wild. My image of the player I collect is still 25 cent bins.

I don’t think they’re moving much. Maybe up to the .50 bins?

But everyone in NY knows the Nesmith effect.

I guess the art of hooping is stacking wins under their noses.

I'll be there. Fun last year and even my wife had a great time. Sucks that the prices are so high this year though.

What in the world would make the Platinum VIP package (3 days - $3,375 pp) worth it. Unless they're giving you some really sweet "free" stuff I don't see the point of spending that much money. Do I get to hang out with Brady

I mean, if you are living in midtown, that's only half your rent. And it's cheaper than having Beyonce or Flow Rida at your birthday.

How much does it cost for a round trip plane ticket to the National, plus 3 days hotel and 3 days ticket? Likely less, but still perplexingly high for someone like me who is not willing to fly to a card show. This card show to perfect for New Yorkers and those who live nearby and doesn't want to travel too far for card shows cause there are no other good card shows here, like Shipshewana or Nationals in the midwest, dallas card show, burbank show for california, culture collison in Atlanta. All the other local card shows are small, with the same vendors selling mostly the same thing, mostly vintage, with some middle-hof autos, and ultra modern cards, very sparse in late 90s and 2000s higher end cards.

I remember last year a lot of dealers would not move off their sticker price. I can't blame them...tables must be super expensive! Hope it's not the same this year.

When you have celebs and current/former players walking around who know nothing about card values and are just throwing money around, I wouldn't move off sticker either...

I mean, if I had the money for a plane ticket, this is where I would shop the CGC-graded Kobe silver foil. The kind of one of a kind error that would appeal to consumers who also comfortably inhabit other collectibles markets such as coins, stamps, and art.

According to you... you would sell your special error Kobe for a million dollars to Geoff Wilson and that would more than cover your cost of getting there. Go ahead, see what happens and what people offer.
