Default So what happens is the Feds do get involved with PWCC? Do consignors lose their stuff

If the Feds end up getting involved with PWCC and this whole trimming/shilling shady business that is gaining some national attention what happens to all the stuff that people have consigned?

Do the Feds just show up one day and lock everything down? All the inventory becomes evidence? How does it work? Are consignors in danger of loosing their stuff?

that's a scary thought when you think about how much inventory they are likely sitting on.

the card wont be lost. may take a little while to get back in hand and more than likely wont go to auction. but they wont be lost forever.

i am just thanking the stars that my last pwcc run was back in april. virtually a few minutes before the uncovering started my final card hammered.

Anyone get a comment from Probstein or are they waiting for him to finish laughing his ass off?

Also what if you buy something and the fed takes things in as evidence? Do you just get your money back? Or do you have to wait and then once they finish the investigation it gets sent to you... lots of questions... not that I’d be buying or consigning to or from them, but definitely some “what if’s” for some people.

You will PROBABLY get your cards back but it could be quite a while for that to happen. Depends on how long it takes them to build the case. It could be 1-2 years. Have this experience with a firearm when a dealer was raided. Also, don't expect them to be as careful with your high dollar sports cards as a collector would be. And, things do get lost and misplaced. I would absolutely avoid sending anything in to them.

I had some stuff scheduled to go in a future auction that I was able to get sent back. However, I had a card in this current auction that I tried to get pulled and sent back (before the auction went live) and was told no because "It is our policy once a listing is up for public preview that we must allow that card to run at auction. At this time we aren't able to pull the card and send back. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Needless to say that card is going to sell at a discount because of all the bad publicity and I'm not happy about it.

I don't see anything current that is being hurt by the bad press.

If you think Federal Authorities are going to give you back anything confiscated during an investigation, I've got some bad news for you. If your cards are seized in an investigation, I hope you enjoyed your time with them. They are gone. If you can avoid it, do it at all costs. If you have to, consider it a donation to the future of the hobby.

How people are sending anything to them at this point is mind bending.

I am guessing many people still dont know unless you have the newspaper subscription or come here.

Exactly. Been saying this for weeks. You’re taking huge risk if you’re still using PWCC.

All of the items in their "Vault" may finally enter into a real vault.

I think that you guys are vastly overestimating your influence. I would not be the least surprised if the majority of hobbyists have no idea that this is going on.

Most shillers who bid on PWCC merch are often doing just that.

One thought is that consignors might try to hold onto as much inventory as they can to borrow against while they defend themselves.

Not sure if the feds would seize everything or only vintage stuff they could pretty easily prove was altered, should they seize anything (it could be cheaper for the feds to buy the cards haha.)

I had to call eBay today regarding an issue I'm having on there, but I also let my eBay concierge guy, Frederik, know about the threads on here. He gave me the political answer of: "I will pass this on to the people in charge" regarding PWCC and their auctions, and said that if I wanted to follow up with him in a few days that I could. He did click on the pictures and look around on the threads, and I will be following up with him on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Ebay makes way too much money off of their stuff, so I can only assume it's going to take the Feds kicking down PWCC's doors in order for the correct action to be taken, but at the very least they are aware of this issue and that is all we can do on our end.

Consignors looking for maximum returns and PWCC auctions are notorious for consistently higher sale prices. The greed in this hobby created the monster (PWCC). I sold a high end Lebron for $25K myself recently and I could have gotten $28-30K out of it if I had sent it to PWCC but I didn't.
