Default Max Headroom Broadcast Intrusion

I still can’t believe nobody has come forward to claim this even after the statute of limitations passed. Such a weird and intriguing event.

I'll say my farewells now, because after watching that I fear I'll be dead in seven days...

Reminds me of those "Genesis - Land Of Confusion" puppets.

The troupe behind those was "Spitting Image" IIRC. They did some wonderful parody work, and if you can find them they're worth a watch. They also did an album of utterly ridiculous songs.

It's pretty impressive that there's even proof of this...

This was 1987, how many people were actually taping tv shows at the time?

Must have been pretty wild for the people watching it in live time.

Helped that it was Dr. Who so, that shot the odds up significantly. However, given it happened earlier, probably a number of people might have just thrown in a tape to record 'just in case' it happened again that night.

Didn’t captain midnight do a similar thing to HBO in the early/mid 80’s to protest their prices or something like that? That event prompted the scrambling of satellite signals.

Dr Who was running on PBS at that time and I normally would tape it and watch it at a later time but that night I watched it live and saw the whole thing. Still kick myself that I did have the tape running... It definitely was a WTH moment...
