Does anyone have any idea if these are legit? A lot of products have them.
Usually a document written by the person on the card.

Yes, they're legit. It's not that hard to come by a presidential document. Before auto-pens, presidents had to sign hundreds of thousands of documents by hand. Land grants are especially common.
Now what's valuable is the autograph. If some card company cuts up a letter and pastes one word from that letter onto 100 different trading cards, those cards are basically worthless. |

And it really depends on the company/set. Read the back of the card: some of them say "Relic from era of subject" or are cut up copies of their printed books that they never touched. Some are stamps of them.
