Default What do you do with all of the commons when you open a box?

When I open a box, I pull PCs, Rookies, Prospects, and anything else of obvious value. What do you do with commons and base? Trash? store? I'm looking for a better way? I assume sending them to COMC is a waste of time?

I keep them. I don’t buy that many boxes. At some point one of them may actually be worth something - like the Shane Justin Bieber error card lol.

Every couple months Ill throw out on Twitter an offer to sell team lots for a nickle a card. Ive moved a fair number that way.

Im about to make up a bunch of 50 card team bags for a local school to use as prizes or rewards. Ive been told the kids enjoy them.

people will also buy sets...

but I'm with the others on this thread... donating them, or giving them away to kids is nice, and they seem to enjoy them

I go to trade nights and take all the prospect base that people leave on the tables. Sometimes the chrome too. 6 paper base Wander Franco's bowman's? Sure I will take them.

List them on facebook marketplace for $10 per medium flat rate postal box full. For pickup of course. I used to package and mail them for $20 over shipping cost but just too much effort trying to pack them careful enough for shipping.

I make sets because historically, i rip alot of the stuff i like to rip.
Takes up significantly more space apposed to pouring piles of base cards into the firepit, but i also enjoy the "completionist" aspect of clectin'.

This.

My method. Card that sold in a top loader in a team bag.
Then put 2-3 cards of the home team where the buyer is from on either side within the team bag.

This.

My husband teaches 8th grade. Gives em out as rewards. Of course, we throw some stars in too.

If they're really deserving, they get a toploader too. Apparently, lots of the kids really dig it.

Reviving an old thread... recently I've been stuffing commons in those Business Reply Mail envelopes (postage paid by the receiver) and getting rid of them that way.

Not sure if this makes me a bad person or not, but it makes me giggle.

I just sold about 15K cards from the last 3 years on facebook for $20. I had them listed for 3 months before someone finally bought them.

I pull out RC's, #d cards, hits of course, 1st year prospects, and about 10 players I collect. The rest, including inserts go into a large box. I just cant throw them away.

If anyone’s throwing any away - stuff from the last few years - mail them to me.

Throw away junk! This will increase value of cards by lowering population haha.

I do this except I DO throw them away. I already have a lot of room taken up by cards. I don't need all the commons taken more room up. If I'm donating cards, I'd rather just donate packs and have the kids open those. Seems more fun.

I just gave away about four 3 row boxes full of base cards to my LCS. Let them sort it out and deal with it
