Default Huge Luka find

So I’ve been on here for years and see the posts/threads about people finding cards they forgot about or misplaced etc.

So in March of 2019 I was goin thru the divorce process and we sold the house in 30 days so it was a quick turnaround and unexpected and I was forced to pack some stuff away etc and lost track of things obviously as you will see.

Fast forward today and I had a giant rubbermaid storage tub that had some game used bats and batting gloves and cards in it that I went thru....needless to say I was extremely shocked and surprised but enjoy the pics and I will be sending to PSA! I somehow managed to forget about these cards as I was so distracted by life issues!

Rev, everything happened so fast...it was divorce and we anticipated the house taking 6 months to sell and we had it sold and had to be out in 30 days. Kids were at the forefront thru the process and to some of the locals here who know me can attest to me having over 1 million cards in my house as well as over 100 game used bats from the likes of Judge, Bell, Alonso, Meadows and Bryant etc...

I had a customer contact me this morning for a Trea Turner game used bat that I have so I went rummaging into the storage bins and I came across the cards. Needless to say it makes me feel somewhat better because the lawyer bills were close to $40k so Ill get some of it back...my daughter just turned 16 years old and she wants a car so this will help offset that as well!

Awesome finds. But if you forget you have those cards...you either have too much money or way too many cards.

OR he was going through a divorce... There's a good reason to forget you have that card if it was purchased during the marriage...

No toploaders? By the time Contenders Optic came out, everyone knew Luka was the best pull.

Lol I see what youre saying here but she was pretty good bout the cards, I gave her the house that was sold and some other property but there was no way I was giving her the cards or letting her know the values!

Cardboard is more important anyways! Again...amazing finds. We all wish we could find those cards in a bin too.

I appreciate it Rev, not gonna lie things have been tough at times but better over the last year. We actually quarantined together from last March til July.

High School sweethearts starting in 1992 in 10th grade and ending in 2019. We do family counseling with the kids and her and I get along better than ever. The kids mental well being was at the forefront from the start of the process and they continue to be thru this whole process of them being 14 and 16 years old now.

I am sure at some point I will hit you up...I appreciate your humanity and empathy more than you'll ever know.

Nice finds, congrats! Moral of the story? Never tell your wife how much your collection is worth.

Oh if you would have only graded when you bought/pulled these. It will cost you a small fortune to grade now.

sorry for the divorce and the kids come first....yes statement on top is a catch 22...to tell or not, i chose the former, even laid out values and contact numbers of traders and auction houses...but this wasn't always the case until 9 months ago that values exploded. my wife though it was a childish hobby and nothing more until we sat to have the talk....Im sure a lot of collectors have this issue...

Nice cards. Glad you are focused on the kids. Way to many discarded because adults can't be civil or are just plain evil. Have managed to keep my collection thru 2 divorces. Wife now could care less about the collection. Grown men playing with cardboard she always says. Guess shes right on that, but it is fun playing on days you open a bin and out pops Luka.

It was a half joke. I 100% agree with you, my wife knows about everything and she has to know in case something happens. Especially that half of my collection is in a vault in the USA. Our marriage is very good, but I can imagine situations and marriages where I would choose not to tell about, because a divorce can be predicted and in that case many of our collections give the opportunity to start a great new life.
