Default Custom, not vintage card, first time on Ebay of Oscar

WTF? I thought the BO community would like to read this listing and give me your thoughts on it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/31298427732...&ul_noapp=true

Banty Red 1960-61 Basketball
Robertson, Cin-NBA
This is the 1st copy of this card offered to date.
Standard Sized 2.5" x 3.5"
Beautiful. Look for our 58-59 & 59-60 Basketball Sets as well!

1960-1961 Checklist
Bill Russell
Oscar Robertson
Bailey Howell
Wilt Chamberlain
Elgin Baylor

Basketball cards appeared in the 40's...then vanished. Again, in 1957...then...poof!
Fleer gave it a shot it 1961 and said "One & Done". Topps was innovative in '69 with
the larger cards and had some staying power through the 70's.

Point is, by the time we got to see a lot of stars on a pasteboard, they were fat, old, slow or all of the
above.

I have collected the standards for the better part of 40 years. I always wondered what the 50's & 60's
might have looked like. To that end, we have played with a few concepts and elements that may well
have been utilized in a card design from 1958...and beyond. Each year we will have a checklist of 6-10 cards and that will
seal the deal on Banty Red Basketball in terms of sets.

The first set is 1958 and contains 8 cards of a handful of stars.
In 1958, the NBA was gaining some popularity, but lacked the intimacy of baseball or celebration of the gridiron.
One reason was the distance that the players appeared and speed of the game. In theory, Banty Red (or even Topps or Bowman)
would have focused on more close-up photography to better familiarize the public with the game's assets--it's players.
In addition, attention would be given to logo recognition as well as elements that are rudimentary to the game itself.
This is how the card design for our '58s came to be. We will have a new card design for the '59's and so on.
The sets will be very small and somewhat easier to complete. We hope you enjoy our latest hardcourt effort.

NOT A TRULY VINTAGE CARD!!!!
For more information on the creation of these card visit BantyRed.com

Hello! Welcome to Banty Red's Tobacco & Ale, Co.

For some time now, I have been producing custom baseball cards that transport the collector back in time with fresh colors, textures, styles and the magic of collecting.
The cards, themselves are mounted to substrates as old as 100 years!!! This means that the cardboard stock is actually vintage!!
These cards are THICK!, hand painted, hand distressed and built layer by painstaking layer! Each card takes between 1-4 hours to produce--it is a labor of love. They are first created with professional software then "pressed" with digital adaptations of individual plates reminiscent of vintage printers. The process in quite involved and requires trial and error and patience...but the end result is typically worth the wait! By using a truly vintage process, materials and operating with individual color plates, there will be shifts in focus and detail.

No detail was spared in making these. In addition, we are ALWAYS busy looking to improve the authenticity factors in every offering.
Our main goal is to produce a desirable card while honoring the shortcomings of the processes in each era. Striking a balance is the key. For example, the Leaf sets in the late '40s
are difficult and exciting but, sadly, the production is just awful. We will try to produce cards that honor the difficulty while still maintaining a presentable and attractive collectible.
These cards will excite your senses and get your imagination going for sure! If you would like to learn more, look us up on line at BantyRed.com
Thank you very much for looking!
Phil

I just purchased a Banty Red Joe Garagiola card. I have not yet received it and have no idea what to expect.

I was intrigued by the card design and the process (as described by the designer/vendor). Also the low price point ($15) kinda gave me the push to check it out.

I don't think that there is any deception here as they state exactly in their eBay ad that this is not a vintage card. On the Banty Red website they explain exactly their process.

I viewed all their eBay auctions before purchasing and their designs are all reminiscent of old designs with some that are original and others that are based on card company designs. The player selection is also very interesting - a mix of players from the '30's to the '80's in different sports. What is also interesting is that they claim that they have purchased the negatives and photos on which their cards are based - so there is no unauthorized use. There is no misrepresentation on their cards that they are anything other than original as they clearly use their own company name and logo in their design. And their limited print run leads me to believe that they aren't in it only for the $$$.

... but I reserve final judgement for when I receive the card.

Just my $0.02.
