I also think it changes the minors as well. Say your a big name a mid 1st rounder and a college or booster offer you 8 million for 3 years and if you blow up into a top tier guy you can make another 5-7 when drafted, hard to say no. What if your a borderline 1st round pitcher and get 5 million offer to pitch and blowout and can’t comeback, you have the 5 million and an education.

Doesn't Panini already have this with Prizm Draft? Already have the school names and logos. And I would have to imagine that contract has writing that prevents Topps from making cards with them

And because the NCAA hates this, you know they'll be monitoring it like a hawk to make sure these guys are showing up for appearances and doing the marketing. Especially if there are boosters paying them millions |

They do. I guess the only change is that they have to pay them for signing cards with them. Plus theres no booster money in college baseball anyway.

Sadly, I think this will end up killing the smaller competitive programs in college baseball. Good for the players, but I'm betting baseball will end up on the chopping block as smaller schools scramble to pay players in bigger sports. The booster money will stop going to the schools and go to "endorsements". What is unclear to me is how Title IX will work with the new scheme. Payments won't be coming from the schools so I imagine it won't be triggered, but there will certainly be an outcry as football players and men's basketball players make real money and women's sports gets a pittance.

I'm pretty sure they were already paying them. It was a draft set. It only includes players that were drafted and I'm assuming were ineligible to return to play college ball

I know a couple billionaire boosters that will leverage a certain school’s cache to get even more elite players.
I think other teams in the same conference will do the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
