Default eBay question.

Just trying to find out what the proper way to handle a buyer who just sent me a message that his purchase, in his own words, “The card was damaged in the mail because your lack of packaging. The card & hard sleeve are both bent.” The card was sent out on the 25th and delivered the 28th using the eBay shipping in PWE. Is it sketchy that the buyer would be claiming this just now? The buyer provided no pictures of the damage. What’s the “right way” to handle the situation? Thanks

Chalk it up as a loss and refund his money. Sadly this happens. I had a stretch where cards were coming in, even in bubble mailers just absolutely destroyed.

This is the first buyer reaching out about damage to a card I’ve sent. I wasn’t sure if the buyer puts in a request for a refund, or I just refund it myself?

Either way eBay is going to give it to them. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the card?

Oh, yea id just refund and move on. It stinks for sure, but (unless something has changed and I could be wrong) ebay will side with the buyer anyway.

Tell the buyer to send pictures and file a return request through eBay. Then look at the pictures and if it's damaged give a refund. Make the buyer go through the refund process.

Ok, Thanks. It seemed strange that it would take this long to reach out about it being damaged.

Get pictures, accept return for full refund, then file a claim for the ebay standard envelope here:

I don't disagree there lol. I open my stuff immediately. It makes me wonder if people wait until they have tons of mail to do a one night opening party

Sure thing bud!

They have been pretty quick in the past about issuing the funds back to you too. I've had to use it twice and both times surprisingly easy and quick.

Good luck!
