Default Registered Mail lost 100% delivery rate wtf

Not one but two registered mail packages have gone missing for me recently in July-August.

For the last 15 years it has been the fail safe ultimate protection of for any expensive shipments.

First one disappeared for two weeks from Detroit so opened a search and thankfully it was found.

Now a second being missing for 16 days hasn’t been found.

I drop off packages at usps and they give me #@#@#@#@ about the registered tape like why are you using this. The place in Detroit has been completely taken over by incompetent employees.

It’s insured but I’m counting on them fighting me tooth and nail not to pay. Like previous dealings.

Always promoted registered mail to anyone who shipped expensive items. Now it turned into a fukin joke.

Use at your own risk ⛔️

Tell the employees the tape is required by usps. It’s their job they should know.

And everybody who touches that package has to sign for it, then it goes under lock and key. There has to be some kind of chain of custody to determine what went wrong with your package.

I have good history with sending expensive shipments with UPS with insurance. They have been spot on each time.

Many years ago, I bought my 1952 Topps Mantle and the seller shipped it via USPS Registered Mail. When the card arrived at my local USPS hub station, it sat there for days. I had to call numerous times because their employees didn’t answer the phone. When someone finally answered, I told them the package was important funeral paperwork and their delay is stalling the burial. Somehow, they found the package that day. I was so frustrated. I told myself I will never use USPS Registered Mail in the future.

That's a genius idea lol. I wouldn't have thought of that.

wow, that is crazy. I have used registered mail in the past. my experience has been it is very slow, but reliable. I have not used it for a couple of years though. perhaps things have changed

I haven't conclusively decided if it's pure incompetence, rampant theft, or a combination of both with the USPS. I don't even want to buy anything online these days that would be shipped via the post office and certainly wouldn't want to sell anything where I would have to use them.

Hiring standards are nonexistent now. Working for USPS used to be a highly desirable and sought after job. Many of my old timer coworkers had a bachelor's or even masters degree. Nowadays its a fall back or bridge job until you find something better.
Hopefully your missing item will turn up soon.

That's what happens when you hire a GOP stooge like DeJoy to run a government agency.....morale plummets and then effectiveness plummets since all the good people leave.

Mail now takes about twice as long to get anywhere as it did pre-DeJoy....

I use UPS for work and personal for any shipping needs. It may cost more but it's worth it. USPS has too many issues.

David Steiner is the Postmaster General. The quality certainly didn’t improve under DeJoy but it was terrible before he arrived. Ineptitude has no party affiliation.

I feel like the odd one out, USPS has been issue free for me for the last 5+ years whereas FedEx and UPS have not. I ship a few hundred packages each month. Haven't used registered mail but for high value items I always do overnight shipping and haven't had problems. Are usps problems more regional or just everywhere?

UPS won't insure for $50,000 though. That's the benefit of USPS Registered.

The insurance claim should be easy though as long as you have an eBay receipt (assuming it's a sold item). If you are shipping your own personal property you have to provide a receipt of when you purchased the item. Appreciation won't be recognized though.

Disagree, at least when it comes to shipping speed.

Pre DeJoy, it normally took packages 2-3 days to get from the east coast to me in Seattle....stuff mailed Monday/Tuesday would arrive by Thursday/Friday.

Now stuff generally takes a week to get cross-country...

And ineptitude certainly does have a party affiliation....only one party is systematically trying to destroy government agencies by appointing unqualified political hacks as their leaders and then firing/forcing out thousands of workers.....

I have a doozy for ya. Sold the 2023 Jack Wenninger Bowman Red Border #1/5 back in June, packaged and shipped out immediately through USPS. 3 weeks later, buyer says he has not received it. I'm thinking maybe the package was shipped and not scanned because I've never has any issue with shipping a bubble envelope with usps ground advantage. Now Standards shipping on the other hand is a train wreck. Checked tracking # and it hasn't moved at all a week after me shipping it out. I go to the Post office and ask them what's going on with it and they tell me to file a missing male claim. I get curious and check eBay to see if it's up for sale. Maybe stolen or buyer scamming me. To my surprise, I see the card is up for purchase on eBay. I look at the buyers user id and it doesn't match my buyer. I check the sellers mailing address and it's not even close to the state of my buyer. I reach out to the seller that's selling my card and asked how he came upon this card. He tells me they bought it off of USPS MRC also know as their Lost and found department. I"m like WTF!!!!!!!

And there it is....your TDS is pretty severe. You froth like a rabid dog to make comments about the GOP or DeJoy when threads like this come up.

In my experience registered takes FOREVER, a package not moving for 2 weeks is not unheard of. I seriously doubt it's lost.

why do people find it necessary to talk politics on a sports card forum? its not like there arent dozens of them out there on the interwebs you could join to get it out of your system. I am a member of a handful of them. have a little self control and talk politics elsewhere

good grief

Because this specific thread started with a complaint about poor service from a government-run agency that one of the two major political parties has publicly stated they are trying to destroy.

Bad service from the USPS is a political issue, whether you want to talk about it here or not.

As someone not really paying attention to politics - Without going into the politics of it, can you explain how it is specifically? Is the insinuation packages are getting lost because USPS doesn't have enough funding or not enough employees? Is the government responsible for USPS hiring incompetent employees? I'm just not sure the specific correlation you're making.

I'm with this. USPS has never been an issue for me. I use registered mail for every valuable shipment with no problems other than it's understandably slow. Yet constant problems with UPS and Fedex.

For those who want to make this political, why then is USPS better than the privately run companies? Because for all the government ineptitude, USPS outdoes the private guys every day.

I use Registered for all my sales over 5k and for all my PSA orders. Never had an issue.

It's this 100%. I worked at USPS for 6 months after being laid off from my corporate job. I loved it but the pay, scheduling, and benefits are a total joke unless you've been there for 10 years. You basically have regulars who have been there for 20 years and know they can't get fired or new hires who are already looking for a new job.

Actually the only reason Dejoy was appointed PMG was to destroy USPS.
