Old Browns mascots (baseball and football) were wild.

I mean the analytics would lead every team to have at least 1 dwarf on the bench if they can have an obp of 1.000. Robot umps would probably make it close to impossible to throw strikes. Its on the MLBPA to expand rosters so each team can have 1 dwarf and 1 track star to pinch run for them, steal 2 bases since you can't throw over......automatic runner on 3rd!

Not sure I get what you're implying. The video brought up the point that Nate Silver estimated a dwarf batting leadoff would be worth about 7war just from getting on base to start the game every game. Obviously a crude estimate, but why wouldn't a team do that. I'd like to see a dwarf sue the league.

You're on the right track with your theory for hacking baseball.

Keep going.

One thing the league could try to do is come up with a minimum strike zone. That would be discriminatory, but probably something they would win on in the end.

Imagine a discreet set up over home plate with precisely controlled infrared lasers. Two on the top frame pointing straight down and two on the side perfectly parallel to the ground. The umps could wear infrared goggles that would make the perfectly square strike zone created by the crossing beams (which would be completely invisible to the pitcher and batter) visible and allow them to call near-perfect games. The infrared beams would be automatically adjusted to each batter.

Any positive WAR would be negated by their base running. Dwarves aren’t exactly known for their long legs or speed.

No, the idea is they draw a walk and then get pinch run for. It only works once a game, but is essentially a free baserunner.

Gotcha. I figured that’s what it was…just seems silly to waste a roster spot on an extremely niche skillset

Not if its literally impossible to throw a strike. You're talking about 162BB a year which is 30 more than Soto had last year.

It would be incredibly easy to stop. Try to throw strikes, if you get a 3 all count you just go 102 to the back and no team will ever try it again.

Or you get to two balls and say hey swing at this next pitch or I’m working inside
