Default Q: How much will LeBron cards fall once the Lakers are eliminated from the playoffs?

Any guesses?

Another 20-30% along with the overall market in my opinion. It has nothing to do with if they get eliminated or not. Steph Curry's card prices dropped despite the championship win last year.

Depends on the card.

BGS 9.5 Ultimate is 27% below the pre-pandemic price, but appears to have stabilized. So for most LeBron cards, I would expect them to do the same. Which means a lot of this stuff has a far way to fall. Just look at who is selling what right now. As high-end collapses, everything else has to follow.

WRONG!

It's going to be worth negative zero for the first time in hobby history.

I don't follow his market but what are you saying? A quarter below when? 2020? or 2021?

If that card is down a quarter from what it was at the end of 2019, I don’t see why other cards of his won’t follow.

It's lower than 2019?

Indeed.

BGS 9.5/10 was 42-56k in 2019. Last sales were 39.6, 39.6, 46.8 from recent to oldest.

That's insane, 2019 was even pre bubble title bump.

I haven't followed his card prices lately other than the exquisite RPA. I remember buying my Ultimate Auto PSA 10 for 60K in Dec 2019 and sold it two years later. Just checked the last sale of a PSA 10 and it was 66K in Mar 2023, which is still slightly higher than what it was in Dec 2019. I guess the BGS 9.5 copies have dropped more than the PSA 10, which is not surprising. TC PSA 10 was 2K in 2019 and they are currently selling for 6K. I don't see them dropping to 2K.

Yup. So I question where the LeBron buyers are right now. I think the reality is that the guys who were buying those cards in 2019, are actively selling everything today.

And if that’s FMV for Ultimate, then everything else needs to come down. That’s hands down his second best RC.

It’s going to take time, but they’ll get there.

BGS 9.5 Ultimate at $39.6k or PSA 10 TC Refractor at $32.6k? That’s an easy decision. So when it starts trading at a third or less of Ultimate like it historically had, then everything else in the $10-15k range today gets pushed down. And as those get pushed down, so does everything below it. Don’t forget that PSA 10 TC base was a ~$2k card before Gary V started manipulating it for his buddies.

Haha, TC base PSA 10 was the first sports card that I purchased in June 2018 for $1200. I sold it for $4500 and saw it going all the way up to 40K. It makes me wonder if bobmtrack on IG left millions on the table by not selling his Lebron cards during the pandemic pump.

All I know is that I've sold more Bron cards during this Nuggets series, than at any other time during the playoffs.

Is there really any more investment thesis left to investing in high end Lebron cards long term?

Convince these buyers that they are fools to spend so much on a piece of LeChoke/LeQuit/LeFlop's cardboard -

Maybe they don't care about annual return
