Default 2022 bowman chrome centering

What makes the centering gem?
I was thinking it being even on the back.
I picked a random psa 10 on ebay and not sure what makes it a 10 or if this is a little oc but within the limits or maybe it's more the left and bottom being even on the front ?Click image for larger version

The centering isn’t too bad on the front. I’ve seen worse. It’s well within PSA’s acceptable gem mint range.

Is it simply the left and bottom border on the front being equal?
Does back centering have a major impact ?

Back centering matters, but no where nearly as much as front centering.

As far as the front, the side/top/bottom should all be centered with each other. That card isn’t perfect, but it’s not worse than 60/40.

Here's how I would judge centering. IMO, the back centering isn't great; however, it's close (or just within) the 60/40 range needed for a PSA 10. In general, they seem to be a little more lax with back centering.

Left/Right Centering = Orange
Top/Bottom Centering = Yellow

Thank you!

I struggle with where to look for centering. On this card I'd use the N in the Bowman logo, which looks to be in about the same spot.

Upon further review I was probably too tight with my requirements for centering on 2022 Bowman products, because the North/South centering on the front looks off to my naked eye.

I think we can conclude that front centering matters and back centering isn't as important

First card is a psa 8 which has decent back centering but is pretty bad top to bottom

Second card is a psa 10 which has good enough front centering but very short on back Click image for larger version

Sure, but don’t forget these’s more that goes into grading than just centering.

Of course just trying to figure out a baseline as I have a bunch of 2022 bowman chrome and want to ensure I only send cards with decent enough centering before checking corners, surface and edges

Of course good centering with surface scratches can still get a 9 or 8

I’ve seen horribly off centered cards get 10s

It’s grading….you never know
