No not that Ryan and Matt.... the other Ryan and Matt! By popular request let's talk about the Chicago Bears! Fans and haters are equally welcome.
So far we've begun the Pace/Nagy purge by cutting Tarik Cohen and Eddie Goldman and trading away Khalil Mack. As a fan I love Akiem Hicks and wish the Bears would resign him but hopefully he and Robinson get some good deals in FA and bring us some comp picks for 2023 (assuming we don't sign too many FAs). Coming up in the draft we have the 2-39, 2-48, 3-71, 5-148, 5-150, and 6-185 picks. We could trade up but knowing the depth of the 2022 draft class I think we should grab some quality day 2 guys could become starters right out the gate. |

Chicago looking to sign former Cleveland and Cincinnati DT Larry Ogunjobi to a rumored 3-year, $40.5m deal with $26m guaranteed. Nothing can be official until the 16th.

I was hoping to see if Mack would go back to his old self in Matt Eberflus's 4-3 D. Guess we wont find out.
I love Hicks & Cohen, both as a players and as a Human beings. But they were downright stealing from the team the past couple of years. Just not worth the money. Same goes for A-Rob & Goldman. While we are now in good position going forward, as far as the cap goes. Its just a matter if Poles thinks we are in full on rebuild mode (stock draft picks, don't sign bigger free agents) or, if he actually wants to build a team now IE Bring in Juju to replace Robinson. Bobby Wagner to replace Mack ETC Hicks was going downhill since 2018. Larry Ogunjobi is an upgrade right there. But certainly not a splash signing. So far, they haven't done much of anything, outside of locking up some of their lesser known RFAs I wouldn't mind getting Patterson back. He showed he still had value with the Falcons. |

Bears won't be doing much business until they get a real quarterback. Bustin Fields is soooo bad.

The kid started 10 games last year, and was sacked 36 times. Thats a lot, for what should be a mobile QB. Bears need to address the lines. Allen Robinson only started 11 games, and he barely showed up for those he played. Only 400 yards on the season, and a single TD Mooney played well, but doesn't look like a #1. Behind those 2, you had Goodwin and Byrd with like 300 yards and a single TD each. Bears need to address WRs. If you bring in talent, and Fields still isn't producing, then you know where the problem is. |

The 1985 Chicago Bears may be the best NFL team ever to play. That team alone had six future Hall of Famers. Mike Singletary, Jimbo Covert, Dan Hampton, Walter Payton, Richard Dent and head coach Mike Ditka.
And dont forget the Buddy Ryan coached players, that went on to become Head Coaches in the NFL DB Jeff Fisher LB Ron Rivera LB Leslie Frazier LB Mike Singletary Honorable mention LB Brian Cabral – Head Coach, University of Colorado DT Steve McMichael - Head Coach, Chicago Slaughter You get a lot of millage, when a team has produced so much.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some '85 Bears and have a reasonable amount of collectibles from that team, though I'd love more! But if we're gonna be accused of being delusional about anything, however misguided, let it be for something worthy of it.
In other news, Pittsburgh dips into the former Bears draft picks well yet again. They signed former 2018 2nd round pick OG/C James Daniels to a 3-year, $26.5m deal. |

Maybe you and I watched different games/film. Fields showed plenty of talent and has the character to be a top QB. If anything its the Bears that need to show they can support Fields with the right system and players around him to flourish. His talent is real.

Neither is saying the Bears have sent the most players to Hall, then any other team. There is pride to be had as a Bears fan, without delusional thinking. Delusional is posting a thread claiming your team to be the Super Bowl Champs 2 years from now (Chargers fans) or thinking if you keep throwing money at Rodgers, he will somehow be better than a .500 playoff QB. |

Bears will be signing former Packer C/OG Lucas Patrick to a two-year, $8-million deal with $4 million fully guaranteed in year one.
https://mobile.twitter.com/JFowlerES...27870959276033 Seems like a low cost, low risk add to provide some depth and push for snaps. |

Still no big splashes being made.
Bears to sign LB Nicholas Morrow of the Raiders. I had to google who he was. He was out all of last year, but he had 78 total tackles with three sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 11 games in 2020 |
