Have they? CEO should be able to retire after this year alone. The people buying this have lost their minds, not Panini.

In the customer/ merchant relationship they aren’t the ones who’ve lost their minds.

At first, I just thought Panini was being greedy (which they are).

But yeah...the real crazy people are the ones buying this.

I hope whoever gets some is able to make money because there are going to be serious losses incurred.

Good luck to the those that decide to rip (who aren’t breakers)

I really don’t know what else to say, haha.

I had a great title picked out OP and you beat me to the thread! Thanks

Panini gives the middle finger to collectors! Panini is selling 2019-20 National Treasures hobby boxes to distributors for $500 a box. The minimum, yes MINIMUM, they are selling a box of 2019-20 National Treasures FOTL on their website for is $7,500 for ONE box! The scale is $30,000 to $7,500.

Sellout will probably be $10k or more. Can't wait to see someone pay over $10k for a box and pull $200 worth of cards! No Zion or no Ja Morant RPA guess what?!? You lose! 1 4 box case group break random spots only $1,600 a spot! Grab your spots while you can! No box limit per order is posted. So hopefully the limit per order is at least 4 boxes so the breakers can get in their 4 box orders for over $40k. Let the games begin!

Are you serious? Panini is flushing over $50 million dollars down the toilet by selling boxes to distributors for $500 a box. Then turn around and sell FOTL to collectors for not a penny under $7.5k a box.

So even if breakers get this at rock bottom they’ll either sell 11 card spots around $750 per or 30 random teams around $275 each with a ton of people going empty handed. And that’s if they scored boxes at rock bottom. Yikes! I wonder what pelicans will sell for in team breaks? Hope people are paying cash and not credit into these breaks.

3 questions:

1. Since Panini has started Dutch Auctioning, has anything sold well below 50% of the starting price? If this is the case I am figuring the boxes sell out at $12,000 to $15,000.

2. Are Ja Morant and Zion Williamson the only 2 cards that cover the price of the box? I remember last year only 1 logoman being pulled out of all the boxes of FOTL I saw.

3. Does anyone have a credit card that doesn't instantly get hit with a fraud alert for buying over $10k?

The other side to this argument....Distributors such as SH, GTS, BO, DA SSC and the list goes on have bought over a decade of crap to get to this point and they are certainly owed this last 2 years of monumental success.

Another argument could be made that this madness will MOST CERTAINLY END AT SOME POINT.....and Panini could burn bridges it has had in place for 15 years with LCS Direct accounts, Distributors and breakers.

Just thinking outloud here...

Can't say as I didn't see this coming. Panini does watch the secondary market and has their ear to the ground. Can't really blame them from a business perspective. Seems absurd...but why let the distributors rake it in when you are Heisenberg?

Say my name... You're g-damn riiiight!

Fotl was originally designed as a program to give collectors a fair shot at obtaining wax at msrp.

Bravo on the pivot, Panini. Bravo.

Panini, to my knowledge, has never turned over $50 million profit in any year. Last year there were 3850 cases of NT hobby I think. They are selling for give or take $2,000 a case to distributors. By not selling on their site they are losing roughly $15,000 a case times 3850. Over $57 million dollars.

People like myself that have bought much more than just first off the line products from Panini directly the last several years are the ones they are giving the middle finger to.

What I don't understand is why they are making themselves look so bad. Why not just put the scale $20,000 to the MSRP of $750? We know it's not going to get to anywhere near $750. But them putting the basement at $7,500 makes them look beyond awful. Until Noir FOTL, I don't think the basement was above MSRP on any FOTL dutch. Is every in demand product basement on FOTL going forward going to be 5 or 10 times MSRP now?

Agreed. When I say they have lost their minds I mean the collective hobby. This is beyond now on all levels. Once upon a time FOTL was meant to give collectors a chance. Not anymore and I’ll say this... At some point the distributors are next and direct to shops too. Why should panini stop? They should go complete direct.

Crazy that the minimum price is $7,500 which it won’t even get close to. Crazy times.
