Default This Weird 2015 Topps Metal Rookie (Hand Numbered /99)

I’m mostly a nonsports collector but occasionally dabble in baseball. Found a “lost box” of mostly nonsports stuff but also this Metal card set that I remember buying off the Topps website.

The cards have some heft and are kind of cool… just wish they didn’t hand number them. Did Topps ever do a similar set for any other year? Or one and done? Any idea on value?

Yep. They had several different metal sets. I bought a gold version /10 of all time RC with Brett, Koufax and several others I still have.

Wow… set of 10! I now need to go back through and try to find the 10th card! I know I have them all as I ordered direct.

There's a 2015 Finest Flashbacks metal set as well, similar to these and using the classic 1990s design. I picked up an odd card off eBay a couple of years ago. I believe they're hand numbered to /99.

For whatever reason, these sets are pretty poorly documented. It's tough to find out much about them.

Here's a link to a Bumgarner from the set.

If you look at the metallic 2020 Marvel Masterpieces Metallurgy's, they are also handnumbered, /25.

It's something to do with metal cards. For whatever reason it's not a simple matter of stamping a serial number on them, so companies resort to hand numbering.

Cool find!

I picked some of these up at the time. Sorry for the crappy scans, combination of the metal and the thicker PSA holders.
