Default USPS: Insufficient Address

I received a damaged card in the mail a couple weeks ago and filed a return, the seller asked a couple of questions and then let it go to a case. eBay approved my return and it was supposed to be out for delivery but USPS shows insufficient address and now is being returned back to me. Anyone ever dealt with this? What am I supposed to do? I printed off the label that eBay provides!

I havent had that, but Mailed a package last week to a guy. And it came back USPS as no address. I sent him a photo and her verified it as thats 100% Correct. So I ended up mailing to a different addy for him. (Not eBay sale, so I dont mind sending to a different addy)

I’d contact EBay. Seems convenient for the seller to have an undeliverable address. I’ve never ran into this issue before but nothing surprises me anymore with anything. Usually USPS picks up on this before it goes out though. I’ve had that happen and sent it anyway ( it got there). I always go the the counter though.

Yea counter will be able to catch this, as they confirm if it’s in the system when accepting it.

I also agree about this raising questions- if seller just doesn’t want to accept the return. Had to return one once to a shady seller (I got the wrong item), and when I sent it back, it said undeliverable on tracking (assuming a full mail box or something)- so this does happen. Seller probably thought they could get out of a return, but they didn’t realize how eBay works (their post office was holding it, and that counts to eBay as delivered).

Without the address it could be hard to say. (Don’t post it…but I wonder if its an apt or suite # missing). If you asked someone at the USPS counter, they might be able to confirm if it's in their system or not, and whats going on. Im just wondering- could a seller purposely leave out something in their listed address for just this issue of returns, or does ebay's system somehow make sure it’s a deliverable address.

It feels shady but I'm not sure. Is there a way to look at all your labels to check the address against the address it was shipped from?

Update: it’s being sent back to me - what am I supposed to do? eBay is the one (the seller, technically) that provides their address.

Call ebay and let them know the seller refused delivery, and that you want the refund processed.

Very good chance he refused it. I've had it happen a few times. Had to call, and once i explained it was ebays label, seller refused, and the item is now in limbo with the post office - I got my money back.

Is there a good contact or number to use for this situation?

Update #3:

I received a refund but the package was sent back to me. I reached out to the seller on how to resolve this since it’s still his but I haven’t heard a response yet.

Is it possible eBay refunded you instead of the seller, or is it known they definitely took the money from seller? The reason I wonder is if they really did take the $ money from seller, you’d think seller would be real fast to communicate with you, and sounds like they aren’t. (possible they blocked you I suppose, that might also explain it).

If eBay refunded you (which I don’t agree with), then buyer ends up with both money and item. If they took from seller, all you can do is attempt to reach out to seller and correct it by resending the item back. They could also initiate a package intercept of their own if it’s still in transit (doesn’t always work, also costs a fee). If the seller purposely made it so they couldn’t accept delivery of the return, which is very plausible, I don’t feel that bad about the seller here- their fault. eBay should have taken money from seller to refund here, not their own slush fund. Sellers problem they couldn’t take a return back for whatever reason.

So the package is back in your possession or still in transit?

Not sure, I assume the seller had to fork out the funds. He also replied to me last week so I’m not sure if he blocked me. I wondered if he gave me a bad address for the return to dodge it but again, I can’t prove it.

It’s in my possession and I don’t have a valid address to send it to. Haven’t heard anything from the seller.
