Default What is the market response time to player milestones?

Just a random question I thought of. Context: there are a lot of rare cards for any given bread and butter NBA player out there on the Bay, that rarely sell, but once they do they are unlikely to reappear (at least until the price rises enough to bring other collectors of the player, graded examples, or high-end generalists to the table).

I know there is the sell before the NBA Finals, not after (because expectations baked in) adage, but is there a similar cycle that occurs with players, after they break out somewhat on a national stage? How do you know when to sell after milestones?

Is a championship ring necessary, except for the recently drafted? For example, did Kawhi or Giannis have any value above a say Kemba Walker before they won trophies...
