I have a question.
Does it make sense to buy singles Auto's from high end sets on E-bay, if the same auto is available from a much lower end set? Example, should a person buy a Tony Oliva (HOF player) from a high end set like Topps luminaries, Diamond icons, Dynasty, sterling versus a much lower end set of Topps Tier one. The cost difference is very noticeable. Maybe it is a hybrid situation. Buy from high end in these situations, but low end in these situations. What are your thoughts, when it comes to buying single Autograph hall of famers off E-bay. |

It’s all personal preference.
Buy what you like and don’t worry about what it is worth. If you are looking at it as an investement to sell in the future, Dynasty or Diamond Icons if you can get it cheap enough. Best yet would be Heritage for investment. However, using your example of Tony Olivia, this would not be an investment opportunity, there are too many out there, so it needs to be what you like best within your budget.

Buy what you like. Find cards you find visually appealing of players you like that are within your budget. Make sure the autos are on-card and not streaky.
My personal advice, if you’re asking, is to buy a few high end card instead of a bunch of lower end cards. Quality over quantity. Either way, make sure you have fun doing it. Good luck! |

Are the high-end examples numbered? Numbered lower?
I would assume so.

I see Griffey autos from 2024 Topps Chrome selling for over $3k meanwhile, this one cost me $500…
![]() While I like the Topps Chrome photo, this one is my all time favourite and came from Museum Collection which is way more high end than Topps Chrome. The cost per box of the set doesn’t matter. To me, it’s all about eye appeal and cost considering the amount of options you have. Always go for the card YOU like, not the one everyone else likes.

“Topps high end” really is a phrase that doesn’t exist. Their products, no matter what the cost, are all the same in my eyes, with dynasty at a slight edge.
Buy what you find is most attractive and make sure it is on card. If it happens to cost less, then you’re in luck. Don’t pay a premium for name brand or artificial scarcity either. |

There are many Auto's from a player spread out amongst various sets. Especially in this modern era. So would it be correct to think that, just like wine, the same type of berries are used in many different wines products, but different characteristics in each product is what increases the price. Thus even though one player has his auto's dispersed amongst many sets, the high end sets would maintain their higher value, because of the characteristics of the set the auto is in. Most importantly, the cost per card, in a box. Example, Topps sterling is about 1k for two cards and Luminaries is $400 for one card in a box. Thus a large majority of cards coming out of those boxes must have a perceived higher value than say Topps Tier one and probably would maintain that perceived value.

Heritage autos are honestly my favorite. On card and simple, just reds and blues.

For HOF Autos, no. Save money and buy the cheaper one if you like it.
