This is why I have trust issues with the hobby -- somehow there are two signed copies of the 2021 Topps Transcendent 1957 Buster Posey autograph card:
One copy has been graded Gem Mint by PSA and just sold on eBay for $1,250: ![]() One copy sold on Comc in August 2024: ![]() And here's the kicker -- PSA has a pop-count of two (look at the red circle): ![]() No other card in the set has a pop-count of more than one. I'd like to congratulate both Topps and PSA for this accomplishment. |

Three more and it’ll be a Tacofractor.

Great, now Topps is going to have to create multiple 3 Kings 1/1's.

Is Posey HOF bound? His numbers aren't very impressive.

His counting stats aren't very impressive, but he has all the accomplishments that a great player would want: MVP, ROY, GG, SS, 3xWS, 7xAS, .300 career batting average. I think only him and Pete Rose have all those accomplishments -- Albert Pujols has a career .296 batting average, and Willie Mays played before the Silver Slugger Award was created in 1980.

Is it possible that this was graded by PSA, received a 9, was cracked out and then re-subbed, at which point it received a 10?
PSA has no way to track when a card is cracked out and re-subbed unless the person cracking the card out contacts them to deactivate the original item number, so pop reports often are somewhat inaccurate. That could be the reason the pop report shows "2" instead of just "1". That said, these do look like two different cards, since there appear to be differences in the autos. |

I confirmed they are two different copies -- I compared the locations of the swirls of the superfractor surface on both cards and they do not match up. |

Yeah, Thurman should probably be in the Hall of Fame. He unfortunately passed away before he could finish his career and didn't have a good relationship with the writers. He also got compared to all-time greats like Johnny Bench and Charlton Fisk.

Gave Buster his own one to keep and then he flogged it off to someone else.

I was thinking maybe we keep both of them out. Thurman for being a Yankee and Posey for not signing his 2018 Museum Archival cards and having me waste years waiting on it to surface so the set could be 100% complete and matching the checklist.

I know hating on Fanatics/Topps and PSA is many Blowout Members favorite pasttime, but it's the same card. Clearly someone purchased the COMC copy, wiped the streaky auto, and had Posey resign it with a much better marker.
PSA has graded it twice because the first time it was graded, the Auto grade was probably an 8. Crack and resubmit after having it resigned. Quote:
Put down the pitchforks and look at the fiber pattern on the back of the card. It's identical. Edit: Pitchforks back out. The fiber pattern is identical because it's printed that way of all 2021 Topps Archives cards. Carry on. Last edited by youseekyoda421; 10-12-2025 at 08:26 PM. |

Being wrong aside, this is why I don't mess with chrome or glossy card autos anymore. Too easy for someone to wipe and re-sign themselves. These card companies really need to go back to a mostly paper stock and let that ink seep in.

Not sure if the entire set was duplicated, but this Posey isn't the first documented copy.
Thread from earlier in the year with someone also trying to understand why a copy he owned was listed on eBay. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?p=19817369

There are two Ohtani's from the same set as well, I pulled one from a personal case and then saw identical card slabbed SGC and sold on eBay.

What other products had this occur?
I remember 2023 bowman chrome when they did dupes of many superfractors and I believe even a third copy appeared for one card. |
