Are you going to be in the city proper or in the burbs?

I'll be right in the city. I will have my car though so I wouldn't mind going outside the city to find a good shop.

That's a bit of a drive.

There's a place called Baseball, Etc in Newton that I go to. Has a decent amount of wax. Place is a hole, but good for getting my fix of wax. Wouldn't be too bad a trip from downtown. There is a REALLY crappy place down town that is mostly a coin shop. I'll walk there (5 mins from my office) occasionally when I am desperate. Can't remember the name off the top of my head.

There is also a shop in Quincy called KCs or something that isn't terrible. Lots of singles and memorabilia.

I think there's a place by Fenway too but I've never been.

Is that the Asian guy who keeps his wax all over the floor?

Batter Up in Tewksbury isn't bad, but their selection of wax is hit or miss. If you want to go up there, I'd call first and see what he has in stock first.

Yup. Looks like a bomb went off but he has a lot of wax and his prices are reasonable.

Thanks for the help! Any particular shops that will trade with you? I'm hoping to find a few nice PC cards. I'm saving my $$ for the Big Card Show in Wilmington in April!

Head up Rt. 1 North to Saugus. Slapshot Sportscards. Really good shop with plenty of way and singles.

Slapshot is good for singles and wax, good dude too. Baystate Coin and Kenmore Collectibles are the two right in the city, prices at both are hit or miss depending on product. Def call Batter Up before heading up there, wax selection was poor two weeks ago

Batter Up's prices are pretty bad, a lot higher than online if I remember correctly.

Only place I ever went to

Try this search site:

Find Baseball Cards Shops, Sports Card Shops, Trading Card Shops in the USA

If you have a car, try Gilberts Sports Nostalgia in Natick, at the intersection of Rt 9 and Rt 27. Great guy, lots of wax, and plenty of singles.

Good luck.

DJs Sportscards in Oxford is pretty great. He is about 45 mins outside of Boston on the pike, but is a great guy and has decent prices.

I jut wanna point out that this is the way a thread should be. This post is clearly in the wrong section but nobody busted the OPs balls and everyone was helpful... rare!

Watertown St. It's probably technically Nonantum. I think of it as the West Newton/Watertown area.

Lat week I bought a box of Five Star for $425 and a box of Sterling for $285. Oh and Triple Threads for $180.

Not sure about the new releases because I rarely care. Last year I did break a few boxes of Tribute in his shop on release date.

It's not much for ambience but it gets the job done at a 25 minute drive for me.

I agree that Baseball Etc is a good shop. I live in the area and go all the time. Does get new releases on time and prices are definitely the most reasonable in the area, especially for boxes. P&T in Whitman is a bit far from the city but overall my favorite shop. Not sure why someone called the guy a dick. Both he and his wife are great, always been friendly in 5 or 6 years I've been going there.

I go to the Post Office there all the time, how do I not know that place? I will hafta check it out Friday. I have only been to Batter Up once since I got back into collecting, would be nice to grab stuff without ordering online.

Not much to look at but good wax selection and price. Just don't buy the boxes of 2008 BDPP behind the counter. I'm gonna grab those one of these days.
