Default Atlanta, GA: Anyone live there/familiar with it?

So I'm flying out of Providence today, to go help my little brother move in for his start of college. I only have about a day to a day and a half there.

Any locals/non-locals have any recc's on must go-to restaurants/food emporiums?

I'm also going to try to visit exactly 1 hobby shop. I know FCB is there, but I'm not really interested. Any suggestions for places that aren't too far from the area (I'm staying in the Buckhead area, just FYI)?

Just thought I'd throw that out there, while I wait for the next 4 hours for my flight

Atlanta is the true definition of 'dirty south.' Buckhead is the rich area. Much of Atlanta is ghetto. Be prepared to sit in traffic for every. Even the routes meant to take you away from traffic turn into parking lots.

Directions are given based on Waffle Houses. I think Atlanta has more than the rest of the world combined. Every other street or building has the word 'peach' apart of the name.

Busiest passenger airport in the world. Flying in/out of the south Atlanta was a requirement for decades. I hate that airport. I'm delayed 8 out of 10 times there. I've sat on a plan 7hrs delayed for a flight that takes 30 minutes. I could have driven from Atlanta to Huntsville and back to Atlanta again in less time.

whenever I visit Hotlanta, I go about 45 mins out to Peachtree City (might be longer) and visit friends. Each time, I go to Taco Mac's or whatever the hell it's called. wall of beer taps, acceptable mexican food.

I think user ITCardJunkie (sp?) lives in Atlanta, if I'm matching user name with location correctly in my head.

There aren't really any card shops in the Atlanta area, so if you're willing to venture out (about 40 minutes), On Deck Sportscards is located in Lilburn. As far as places to eat, I'd suggest Fogo De Chao (pricey) or like others have mentioned, Flip Burger is good too.

I agree with these guys...spent a lot of time in Atlanta...the Varsity is old school and iconic...you will see it on Food Network and the like from time to time...it's a must go kinda place.

Up near the I85-I75 (Howell Mill Rd) split is a pizza place called Fellini's Pizza...I love the place.

Fellini's Pizza, Atlanta GA

There was an awesome place called Burrito Art, but they closed and re-opened under new ownership and it's not the same anymore...which sucks, that was my favorite place in all of Atlanta.

I live in Atlanta what kind of food and what type places you interested in visiting?
The new Coke Museum and store opened a few years ago and you can sample dinks for different continents, the parking garage is like $10. The Georgia Aquarium is next door to it too. Some people like to goto Underground Atlanta but dont go there by yourself at night I heard people have been mugged. You can visit Margret Mitchells Apt where she wrote "Gone With The Wind" but I heard it pretty boring!

There are lots of good places to eat in Buckhead! Just depends on what you like to eat.

The only cards shops are the On Deck that has been Mentioned but the two good ones are Freedom Cardboard formerly Atlanta Sportscards on Nesbit Ferry in Alpharetta or ChampionSportscards in Kennesaw everything else has closed down.

I fly out of there 4-6 times a month. I get to my gate or out of the airport and in a rental in 30-40 minutes most trips.

I been there 5-6 times in my life and had a rotten experience every time.

My first stop would be the town where they film the Woodbury parts in the Walking Dead. Then maybe the prison...Then I'd leave lol

Unless you are going to be around Lake Lanier or Buckhead, get the hell out. Whatever you do, don't stay in a hotel near downtown. The last time I was there, I stopped at a Holiday Inn that had a gate and bars on the windows. Also, try to avoid driving on the interstate during rush hour.

I really should've updated the post before bumping this old thread...I'm actually staying in Stone Mountain and not in Buckhead, this time. Also will be near the Emory U area. I have a car so I'm perfectly willing to drive wherever.
