"We are strictly a service-based auction company, not a dealer handling private sales, and are fully transparent in everything we do. Integrity is our top priority. The sportscard hobby hinges on that.' - Brent Huigens (October, 2015 SMR)

thanks for posting this

probably my favorite part of it

"As a part of that commitment to their clients, PWCC does not do private sales. "We are strictly a service-based auction company, not a dealer handling private sales, and are fully transparent in everything we do," says Huigens. "Integrity is our top priority. The sportscard hobby hinges on that. We do not permit shill bidding of any kind and actively police our auctions to prevent such acts from occurring.""

Wow is all I can say...

And great detective work on these troubling finds.

Here PWCC gives their own card High End status in 2012:

I’m sure they stopped reading at “baseball card community.”

For anyone else going this route I suggest “collectibles and memorabilia.”

Why yes. Betsy even told me this personally on 4/29/19:

"I can assure you that this process is completely unbiased; when Brent does his review he does so for the entire auction after the cards have been sorted by sport, year, and issue. This is after any affiliation with any particular submitter has been removed. So there is no way for Brent to know who the submitter is of any of the cards when he does his review. The unbiased nature of this process remains the most important part for us to ensure a quality, consistent outcome. For reference, we are only issuing designations on 30-50 items per auction so it is quite rare for these designations to be issued."

What is quite rare is that the average consignor could get an eye appeal sticker and that a single thing they have ever said has been the truth.

I bet it's one of those "miscut, altered, or minsize" submissions that PSA didn't grade because it's not cut into a rectangle. Why a known trimmer wouldn't fix that issue after cleaning the stain is kind of odd.

Yeah, I somehow doubt Brent collates raw sets.

Too much cutting required?

I cant even follow these threads anymore. So much corruption it is sad. If there are still people defending PWCC and their corruption there is no hope. WTF.. I remember a few weeks back people were laughing and probably stll are at those that said the FBI needs to be involved, but this SCAM has been exposed and heads need to roll. PWCC is a PATHETIC excuse for a company. I am so disgusted and disheartened with all of this.

Great work as always 312. You and Dan should be compensated for the incredible work you are doing. Lead investigator at the FBI maybe?

I look forward to seeing Brent taken out in handcuffs. The house of cards is crumbling. About time

I laughed at the idea of the police getting involved before it became clear that a multi-million dollar business was behind mass card alteration (better known as fraud.)

It felt like in the beginning people just didnt want to belive or couldnt believe the level of corruption. This hobby will survive, but IMO it is going to take a massive hit for a few years. The huge money that has been flowing in is probably already backing out as quickly as they came.

What is amazing is for years PWCC has been getting record sales and when anyone tried to call them out people would get accused of sour grapes and the old statement. I TRUST PWCC AND they are good for the hobby. Wonder how that Trust is going these days.

I've got a big box of slabs being listed by Ricky this week.

I'll let everyone know how the sales go and if the market is crashing.

Wonder if Brent's lawyer will be able to strike a deal so that he can continue to wear his snazzy gray shirts and vest while in prison?

This could get interesting, if PWCC has been hawking cards as an alternative investment modality, but has been creating artificial pricing on said modality, is that considered Securities Fraud and enough to get the SEC involved?

I asked that question a week ago and didn't get an answer from the Net54 pundits, about the SEC and the Vault.
