This is on Panini’s website. National Treasures Collection with digital and physical cards. All cards shown are logomans or logomen or whatever the plural is, lol. Thoughts?

Honestly, less than zero interest in this. I give Panini props for trying something different. But it does nothing for me it's just a gimmick.

Gimmicky. Panini really just using the "blockchain" as a buzzword to sell cards.

You can ensure your card lives forever if you just store it properly. What's the point of having a digital copy of a physical card anyways?

I'm not following. I work with blockchain in my free time and while it may be useful as a ledger to track physical items (think supply chain), there's no way to track a physical card if it's sold/traded offline so pretty pointless to then have a digital ledger that's not even accurate.

Unless they're using it like a crypto asset which again what's the point of having the physical card in that case.

True, I just don't understand what the point of having a "blockchain" (fwiw it's probably not actually a true blockchain) if you're just going to have the physical card anyways.

I'm assuming its just a "database" on the ETH chain and that the cards have some sort of QR code on them. I also would think you would 100% have to use a panini app to utilize this

Topps told me this in 1993. They featured "Hi-tech" photographs and were indeed Topp's finest release.

Yea pretty much which defeats the entire purpose lol. I'm not sure high end collectors are going to scan the code to make sure the ledger is updated each time the card changes hands. If 1 transaction is missed the entire thing is pointless

- Guy buys first digital card and gets the physical copy
- Guy sells the digital card in their marketplace
- To release the funds, Panini request the digital copy and then sends it to the new owner

Everything outside of that will be out of the scope of the release.

It's far from perfect but at least it's a positive for the digital trading game.

I suppose... Just don't see the demand, especially in the high-end realm. If I'm dropping multi-thousands on something I want it, not to have some digital copy stored somewhere on a Panini server. Having a digital copy that "lives forever" is of no value to me.

Maybe I'm in the minority here tho idk
